Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

I had my interview today (Dec.01). It was scheduled at 8 am. I arrived to the Embassy at about 7:30 and there was a long line already (about 30 people). A guard took our passports in 15 minutes, checked them and gave them back. Then all the line was moving fast entering the Embassy. Immigrant visa applicants were asked to follow the guard and we went to the 2nd floor. Then an officer asked everyone for their documents (originals and delivery confirmation page).
I was asked to go to the window 24 for the interview. A consular officer (young blond girl) was very nice and friendly. She didn't ask me about the language that I prefered to use and started talking in Russian. So, I just started responding her questions. The questions were very common: Where and when we met? Have you/your husband been in the US and how many times? Does he have children? How old they are? What do you do for living? What does your husband do for living? Does he speak Russian? And that's it.

Result - form 221, they kept the passport, though, and we are waiting for the approval any day.

My Mom's interview was on October 23rd 2015 in Moscow, Russia. It was appointed at 8 am. By the time we arrived at 8 am, there was already a long line of about 60 people. But we were not in a hurry, our priority was not to stand outside in a cold snowy morning.
Anyway, shortly after 8 am we were inside the embassy. I was allowed to follow my mother for the interview. I requested that by email, and I was answered my name would be added to the visitors list on October 23rd. Still, I was feeling nervous and praying for being allowed to walk in, for I heard there are a lot of discrepancies between what the embassy does and say.
Regular security clearance check was disappointing, for I had to throw off my memory card and 2 headsets, I forgot to take out of my purse. Remember -no electronic devices of any kind are allowed.
First after entering the embassy, at t... read complete review

I had an interview at 8 am, got there at 7.30. There were around 30 people in front of me. We went through the police that checked everyone's passports, then a guy who checked purses and such to make sure you are no carrying prohibited items (hint hint - do not bring charges or pretty much anything electronic apart from a phone). Then I gave a person my phone and went to stand in a long line to go through security. A guy was calling all immigrant visas and asked us to go ahead which was nice.

Went to a window, got a green sheet of paper that said "hall 5 window 22", that's on the second floor, easy to find. Once I got there a person in that window checked out surnames and gave everyone a number. After my number was called I gave the same person the originals (passport, birth certificate, police certificate, marriage certificate, medical envelope and 2 new photos) plus scans of certificates.

After that I waited until 9.30 for the actual interview. Consula... read complete review
