We had our visa interview yesterday (August 22, 2018), so I wanted to share our experience. Overall I was incredibly impressed with the experience. The embassy was organized and efficient, the security and staff were all friendly and patient, and the wait was not bad at all.

Here's how things went down to the best of my recollection:

-Our appointment was for 1pm, so we (my wife and I) arrived around 12:45pm. We waited across the street in a bus-stop style waiting area. At close to 1pm, a security offer waived at us to cross the street and stand in front of the security entrance. He then called out the names of everyone on the scheduled list and checked their passports. He also checked the passports of those accompanying applicants (for example me, the USC). So be sure to have your passport with you if you accompany. Also, be sure to call or e-mail the embassy in advance if you (the USC) wish to attend the interview. They will add you to the appointment lis... read complete review

My birthday was on July 26th and I'm pretty sure the super nice lady at the Consulate chose to put my Visa on that very day, instead of July 24th.
The interview was a peach; went in with so many emotions and they all just disappeared once she started talking to me. I guess I was lucky.
My binder was full of pictures and colorful and looked more like a scrapbook; she told me she was happy to see something other than b/w copies of stuff, hehe.

As other people said in previous reviews the interview was at 1PM. It makes sense to arrive like five minutes before, but not more than ten, otherwise you will wait across the street from the embassy in a bus stop style covered area....
Since I am not from Bucharest I had a big backpack with me, but I left it in the Baneasa Shopping City. There is a garderobe (pin coded wood cabinets - different sizes) on the first floor (la parter) not far from from the entrance where the Starbucks is. From there you can walk to the embassy, it's like 20 minutes walk, around 2 km.

I didn't enter the building first, also at the first window I was not the first to give my papers. People just presented at the window in the order we entered the building. Be sure you have the correct picture, not just the size, but also to be sharp and crisp. They took the picture, but the lady said I should get a new set of pictures for further documents (AOS I assume) because this is not that good ... read complete review

Our interview was scheduled at 1:00pm, and we arrived around 12:45. They made us hang out across the street where is a special covered space for people to wait. At 12:57, a guy came out to check people off the list and send them inside one by one. We went into the security area where I had to leave my fitbit and our car keys. We didn't bring any bags or purses because we knew they weren't allowed.

After we walked into the second, larger building, we were instructed to go to one of the windows. The lady asked for all of our documents and she organized a file for us. Then she took my fiance's fingerprints. We had prepared so many documents and I think the only thing they didn't take was my original birth certificate (petitioner). Everything else from me (divorce papers, last year's tax return, affidavit of support, savings account statement) they took. Fiance (beneficiary) gave them his original birth certificate, police report, DS-160 receipt, visa fee receipt, and medica... read complete review
