From start to finish we were at the Embassy for 2 hours. (1pm-3pm). First they call you to one window and ask for bonafides, then a second window where they take your fingerprints. Finally by the third or fourth window you get interviewed. Cata's interviewer was American. All this went fairly smoothly and fast. The longest wait was after the interview while they prepared his passport w/a temporary visa ---that took 1 hour. The interview itself was very short for my husband, about 2 minutes!

Questions asked: Where did you meet? What city? What did you study? What is your career? Your wife's career? Others were interviewed with more questions so I think the number of questions varies. Although I was there I was not interviewed with my husband.

Tips: Take a sweater if you get cold easily. I also had a small book to read. Electronics are not allowed and will be held at the exit for you. If you forget to bring ID size photos there is a photo booth there; cost i... read complete review

My fiance was right on time and let into the building. He said they were nice, he waited about 5 minutes and then went from window to window quickly. The consul asked only a few questions: How did you meet, when was the last time your fiance visited Romania and how many times, Have you ever talked to her family, does she know any Romanian (language). My fiance had brought a photo album he has made with outr pictures over time, he handed the consul a few of the pictures from the album...and that's it. My fiance said the consul started the interview talking and asking him questions in Romanian, but my fiance answered him in english. Before the interview date, the embassy requested a certified copy of my previous divorce judgement, and I had sent it, but it didnt get there in time for the interview. They still let him interview and approved him but are withholding the actual visa until they get the copy of the divorce judgement. All in all, my fiance said it took abou... read complete review

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

The Consulate staff (both American and Romanian) was very professional and friendly throughout the time my visa application was in their jurisdiction. My case was expedited just prior to it being transferred to the Consulate, because of special family circumstances. Only 10 business days passed between the NVC notifying me of the case being accepted for expedited processing by the Consulate and the visa being approved. The Consulate responded to my email message asking when I should be receiving their instructions very promptly and sent instructions via email, immediately. They scheduled my interview on the day of my medical examination and allowed me to come to the interview without my medical examination results and to bring those back immediately after the interview. They even allowed me to come in with the results a few minutes after the official close of business (with the public) because they had had many interviews that day and they only started my interview a half an hour befor... read complete review
