I arrived at the embassy with my wife around 20 minutes before our 7AM interview, but we did not get into the embassy until around 7:20 due to the line of other applicants. There were many more people there than I expected and about 5-10 people for each of the 7:00 and 7:15 times slots.
A surprise to me is that they will not allow phones in the embassy or hold them for visa applicants. As a USC I was able to have them hold both my phone and my wifes at security, but I feel this would put many visa applicants in a difficult situation as I did not see anything on the interview email about this.
After we got into the embassy my wife went her way to the interview area and I waited in the outside waiting area. They would not let me attend the interview (I do not know if this is expected or is due to the pandemic). Everything went fine. Even though the typhoon caused a lot of havoc the day before, the embassy opened the next day and handled the scheduled interviews.
Questions were:
- How did you meet your husband?
- When did you meet your husband?
- What is your husband’s work?
- What time does your husband start working?
- When was your first in-person meeting?
- How many times did your husband visit you?
- What places did you visit together?
- How many people were at your wedding?
- What are your husband’s hobbies? What does he like to do?
Probably the only curve ball was that they wanted an “Advisory of Marriage†for *both* of us... she and I... from PSA. The marriage certificate wasn’t enough to prove the wedding (even though we had gotten that from PSA too). So be sure to get your AOM/CENMAR from PSA and bring it to the interview. Appointment was at 7:30 am and we were let in around 7:00. The guard asked for passport and DS260 confirmation page before letting us through. All personnel were polite and courteous. Social distancing is observed. First step was the pre-screening, where all civil documents are to be submitted and checked, took about 15 minutes. Fingerprint scanning is second, fast. Last was the interview, was asked to take off mask and face shield. The CO asked the basics, who's the petitioner, name, birthdays, wedding date, how did we meet, and a few more. While asking questions, he looked over the original files that was just submitted while checking the CEAC portal (I assume, as he looks like he is double checking my answer to the documents on hand, and to the one on the screen). Then he handed me the paper with information on domestic violence, telling me to call if needed and that it will not affect my immigration status. He then asked about my husband's previous marriages.
