Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

neither the consulate nor the embassy were very helpful at all. they behave as if the whole visa process is top secret! But, having said that, I have only had to communicate with them via telephone and given the benefit of doubt.. I'm hoping I just connected with someone who was "new" to the job and that it will be much easier in person.

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

Arrived at the Embassy in the a.m. Cleared all of the security , my wife got fingerprinted, three little kids were not. It was at least a 3 hours wait before they called my wife a kids for the interview. A pakistani girl called and took my wife's oath and verified the documents. She asked my wife to sign the form DS-230 and asked us to wait.

Waited about 2 more hours and an American guy who was dressed in Pakistani dress called my wife and kids for interview in Urdu. He was very nice. He asked my wife when and where we got married and how many kids we had. She answered. Then he asked my 5 year old son.....pointing towards me....who is he ( in English)? My son said...My Daddy. next thing he said was....Congratulations....Your visa's are approved and we will send your passports in a few days. I requested him to issue the visas on the same day, he agreed and asked us to wait in the Embassy for a few minutes which we did. He handed us the passports half an hour later. We all... read complete review

My fiancee and I arrived at the consulate shuttle station around 6:00 AM. There are really no clear directions to this place, but since ther eis so much security in Islamabad, it isn't hard to get stopped and then you can ask directions.

We got our tickets and waited to be called for teh shuttle to the US embassy. There were lots of scans and pat-downs but once inside, you just take a seat and wait to be called several times to different windows.

Once she was called to the interview window, I went with her. They kinldy greeted us and promptly told me I could take a seat again and wait. They were very polite. One owman asked the questions while another stood by in case a translation was needed.

After 10 minutes or so, they told her the visa would be mailed in 7-10 days. All this, and the medical report did indicate inactive TB, B1 status.

We have met in person 4 times including this visit, and also used a lawyer for help in fil... read complete review
