Hello, to everyone coming to the US on K1 visa here’s something i wish someone had told me. You can actually apply for a social security after Two weeks of being in the States. Without SS it makes almost everything hard for me. No banking you can’t even use a reloadable debit card without a social, i only use Gift Cards to shop online, you can’t have no driver’s license you literally can’t do almost anything without a social. I’ve been here for 6 months. Or you can wait till you submit your Adjustment of status either way its fine

Hubby has his visa!
Submitted Petition 7/31/20
NoA1 8/7/20
No2 Approved 2/9/21
Documentarily qualified 5/10/21
8/31/22 Received interview letter (we panicked because he had not gotten his renewal passport yet) but Debbie Wheeler-Anosike told us just to go with old one which was expiring literally a week after his interview.)
10/1/22 Medical (originally scheduled for 9/30 but he drove most of the way with traffic before he realized he left his old passport at home and had to go online and pay to schedule another appointment.) He did get refunded for original payment later.
10/13/22 interview

His interview was with a nice lady. She was looking for one of the documents, but it must’ve gotten lost between document collection and delivery to the CO. Luckily he had multiple copies of everything, so he handed her one to keep and the interview began.
Questions asked:
1. What’s your name
2. What’s your fiancé’s name?
3. What does she do?
4. What do you do?
5. How did you meet? He said he came to visit me.
6. You went to the US? He said no, Osogbo.
7. Have you two met outside the country? (He mentioned Kenya and Morocco)
8. You two went to Ghana as well? (She saw it in our pictures)
She approved him and showed him the pictures I sent with our initial filing.

About the interview, My husband got there at 6:00 a.m for his 6:30a.m appointment. They went through security, checked them in making sure they have all the required docs. At about 8:30a.m, he was later called to window 19 by an African American lady. He said it felt like a conversation not like a typical interview. CO asked about my name, our daughter’s name, some wedding pictures and family pictures over the years, how many times I’ve visited him in Nigeria, if we had other kids aside our daughter. And that was it. She said he was approved. The next day, it shows administrative process, the next day it shows visa issued. We are just waiting for a passport pick up email from DHL. Grateful to God for favor and mercy.
