I decided from the get-go that I would be traveling to be with my wife during the interview in Lagos. I have always had the belief that psychological benefits is very possible despite what anybody might think to the contrary. Her interview was on March 6, 2009.
I travelled to Lagos on the 4th and met my wife at the airport. We decided to check into a hotel closer to the embassy and beat the Lagos morning traffic and meet our 7am appointment. We chartered a taxi and scouted for a hotel/motel allover Victoria Island (VI) and also considered Lekki as a second option. I was surprised with the high price of hotel accommodation in Victoria Island Lagos. Moderate hotel here in the US (Motel 6, Motel 8, Best Western) cost between $40-60/room/night. These hotels in VI Lagos with very small space, smaller bed and not-very good restrooms cost $150-200/room/night. Joseph went to his interview with hundreds of pictures including ones with parents and siblings and friends, billing records for daily phone calls for the entire period between petition and the interview and reciepts from monthly care packages.
The officer acted odd about the interracial nature of our relationship and when Joseph correctly answered the normal questions about my kids and parents and where I live and work she then insisted that he he should tell her details of my classified work. He couldn't so she used that to deny the visa. I believe that she was going to keep asking questions until he missed something so she went for this subject knowing what I do.
The consulate refused to review at the consulate even when I made sure they understood the nature of my work and sat on returning the petition for over 3 months.

THE INTERVIEW WAS NOT TOO BAD..IT REALLY DEPENDS ON HOW WELL YOU KNOW YOUR SPOUSE. SO I WOULD JUST RECOMMEND THE COUPLES GO EVERYTHING FROM A-Z. QUESTIONS YOU WOULD NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT THE EMBASSY ASKING...JUST STILL GO OVER THEM WITH EACH OTHER. IF IT IS GENUINE LOVE THEN NOTHING CAN HOLD YOU GUYS APART...GODS BLESSINGS ON YOUR JOURNEY AND FEEL FREE TO CONTACT U AND WE WILL BE HAPPY TO HELP!

My love told me that his interview lasted less than two minutes. They were basic questions that were all in my application that I sent them. He said he was waiting for more questions, but the lady said here is your appointment letter for your visa. We were to excited. It was 5:34 am when I got the phone call...11:34 his time. I thank everyone for their prayers and help. I thank God for a speedy journey. Oh my love also told me that the lady said our paperwork looked good!! So I am happy...
