Everything went thru smothly, but my husband was in U.S without a permition and at the time of the interview we were told that we are elegible for a waiver and now we are in the process of that! I-601 form we have to wait another year.

The people who did the interview and collected our documents at the consulate in Managua were very friendly. My wife is a nervous person so the fact that the girls who attended us made small talk with her really made her feel comfortable. They didn't get too crazy with us during the interview either. They just looked at our pictures and the stack of receipts from the money I sent to her and asked us when and where we got married. They also asked my wife what her date of birth was and if she had ever been to the US. The whole thing was a piece of cake for us; however, I think the fact that I was there with my wife helped a lot. In prior visits to the COnsulate, we have seen how they ask a ton of questions that can be somewhat personal when the beneficiary goes to the interview alone.

This review is of the interview my husband had with the consulate in Managua when he submitted his I-601 waiver package. The I-601 applications are accepted MWF from 1-3pm. He arrived at 12 and there was already a short line. As it got closer to 1 the line grew very long. He entered and went the the security as described in previous reviews. When called he went to the window and submitted the I-601 along with the biographical form. They asked him a few questions about when he EWI'd, when he returned to the US, did he return on his own, does he have family in the US, and where is he working, then he took a seat. About 20 minutes later he was asked to return to the window where they gave him a slip of paper that allowed him to wait for him number to be called so he could go to the cashier and pay. After he paid they told him to take a seat and wait for his name to be called. When he returned to the window about 30 minutes later the interview began. Everything went almost exactly as previous reviews have provided regarding getting there at 7AM, going through inspection and waiting to be called up to the windows. The first person we spoke to was Nicaraguan and asked us general questions about when we were married, where we were working, when did my husband return to Nicaragua from the US, and did we have any children of our own or together. It didn't seem that they had looked at our package from NVC because he asked to look at our copy and flipped through it pausing at the photos. He told us our VISA application couldn't be completed because we needed police reports from the city where my husband is living in Nicaragua, and the two cities where he lived in the US. I told him the NVC checklist told us we didn't need them which is why we didn't have them. He said the NVC checklist is outdated.
