I arrived at the Consulate at 12.30, totally nervous of course. There were already 3 people waiting in front of the gate and while the time passed more people joined. Around 1.15 pm a guard came to the gate and asked who was there with an appointment letter for an immigrant visa. I was number 4 and he let 5 of us inside the gates. I went through the security check and was told to wait with the others in front of a door. There I had to go through another security check and was told to go to booth 5, but that was where everyone was told to go to. When it was my time to go to the booth I was met by a very friendly Dutch guy. He asked me for my name and my passport. He asked for my bank statement which showed you paid the fee and the pics + birth certificate. He also asked for the I-134 + supporting documents. He gave me my xray back and told me to wait untill my name would be called. About 30 minutes later a lady called my name up to a booth, asked me to raise my right hand, asked me to s... read complete review

So, that morning after a horrible night of sleep, i was pretty anxious and headachee...i think from nerves, but by the time I arrived in Amsterdam i felt fine again..Once I got to the Consulate I was 45 minutes to early and the first one to arrive, after that pretty soon a whole line was forming by the gates, around 13:35 this guard comes out and lets groups of 3 coming in, we have to show him our invite we received with the last package, we have to empty our pockets and he`s starting to scan us one by one with a handheld metaldetector and tell us to line up again by the door, after like 5 minutes I was allowed to go in as first, i came by this glass window where another guard told me to empty my pockets again and walk through a metaldetector, my keys and my cellphone I had to leave behind to pick up after eveything would be done.
We were sent to a waiting room, where I was almost instantly called to a booth, this real friendly Dutch guy asked me for some forms, told me what expe... read complete review

what to say about the consulate. The biggest thing was the wait and that was only like an hour(I brought a book just in case). The first consulate employee was Dutch, he took my paperwork(1-134, birth certificate etc.) and he gave me my vaccination records back. He also gave me my bank statement back.
Interview(well, interview is a big word here) lasted for less than 5 minutes and was by an American consulate employee. He first apologized for the wait. No questions asked at all and he didn't even look at the evidence of our relationship that I brought. Just me signing my paperwork and taking my fingerprints, that was all he wanted and he congratulated me on getting my visa.
I received my passport with the visa in it and the big mysterious packet 3 work days later. So all in all a very pleasant experience

Appointment at 1.30 PM. I got there early, around 12.45 and already a line had formed around the gate. Electronic gate, camera's everywhere. At 1.30 a security guard steps out and starts letting people in 5 at a time. I was in the 3rd batch of 5. Empty pockets, remove all metal objects, you are searched with a handheld metaldetector, and you have to line up again infront of the main entrance. Now we're getting in one at a time. Again security, empty pockets etc.
Show the letter you had to bring and step through a metal detector gate now.
You get your stuff back,(papers, keys etc) and again you line up infront of a cubicle window. It's 2.30 when I step up to the window. the man is very friendly, asks to see my passport, the invitation letter, 2 passport photos and a bankstatement that proves i paid the fee. Furthermore he needs my international birth certificate, the I-134 and additional information regarding the affidavit of Support. No pictures, letters, emails or anything... read complete review
