Finally the big day had come! I had read all of the reviews so I had an idea of what I could expect, but I was still pretty nervous.

I left my phone in a locker at Amsterdam central station and took a tram to Museumplein. Once there the consulate was very easy to spot with it's American flag waving in the wind. I arrived too early so hung around in the freezing cold for a while until it was almost 13.30. When they let us in, the guards were very friendly and polite, and that helped me feel less nervous. They told me to go to window 5.

At the window a very nice lady took my appointment confirmation letter, my passport, two passport photos, the postage, proof of payment and finally the Affidavit of Support from my fiancé and his mom, our co-sponsor. She asked me a few simple questions, and after that she asked me to wait until I was called to window 6 by the consular officer. The wait took about 45 minutes and I got increasingly nervous during this time. A... read complete review

The interview was on the 20th of November at the US embassy in Amsterdam. I arrived at the embassy with my fiance(petitioner) at 1.25pm , the interview was scheduled for 1.30pm. At exactly 1.30pm the security ask everybody with 1.30pm appointment to form a queue and people with no electronics were allowed to go in first. We were directed to counter number 5, where we met a very good and patient lady who took all our documents (Passport , birth certificate, affidavit of support(1-134), postage stamp, police clearance certificates and evidence of payment). She also took my finger print and ask us to wait for a consular officer for the actual interview. At this time I was nervous and said to my self the monment has arrived! After about 5 minutes I was called by a middle age latino man to counter number 6. He greeted me with a warm smile and that calm me down a little bit, my fiance was standing right by my side. Then the questions started:
1. what is your name
2.What is your... read complete review

I Was very nervous in the morning, the raining weather didn't help either. I almost felt like I wanted to throw up.

We Lined up in front of the consulate at 13:10, waited 25-30 minutes before we were allowed to check in. Security guys were very nice. Good impression so far.

Then we were called at window 5 immediately, we submitted all documents to a very nice young woman, talking to her was very delightful and joyful. I find it quite impossible/ couldn't believe it really.

One by one we needed to submit my passport, 2 photos and birth certificate, my fiancé financial support documents, she asked if I had married before, and then it's the foreign police certificate, the postage + return envelop 7,50 euro, and finally the proof of visa payment 192 euros.

She was so patient, we prepared way too much evidence that at one point we kinda got lost in our paperwork, she always waited with a smile and said if we didn't make copies i... read complete review

The interview time (as it is for years now at Amsterdam Consulate) was at 1:30p.m. last tuesday. Since we wanted to make sure we were on time we left extra early and arrived 45 minutes early. We where lucky that the weather was nice and sat on a stone bench across the entrance.
Slowly people gathered and sat with us. A few minutes before 1:30 p.m. the consular staff came back from their lunch break, followed by the security staff. Exactly at 1:30p.m. the security officers called to us to say we could line up. We where keen on getting in early and where able to get in line first.

Before we could enter one security officer ordered people to make a line along the building before anybody could enter. When they were pleased with the result, we were aloud to enter. After showing our letter and answering the question if we had a cellphone with us, we had to wait for a few seconds. Somebody outside was taking pictures. The security officer asked to the people inside if ... read complete review
