Review Topic: K1 Visa

I came to Juarez with my fiance who I am sponsoring for the visa. The process was fairly straightforward and easy. We stayed at the Microtel in the hotel plaza near the consulate. Less than 5 minute walk over to the clinic to get the Medical Exam done. She arrived at the Clinic at 6AM on Monday morning. Was done and out by 9:30AM. She was able to pick up the packet that has to go to the interview by 2PM. She had the biometric appointment at 3PM that same day. Got to the ASC around 2:30 after picking up the medical results. Went in 5 minutes before 3, and was out by 3:30PM.

Interview was at 8:15AM on Tuesday morning. She got to the consulate at 7:45AM. Stood in line for about 15 minutes before getting inside. Waited 10 minutes for them to call her up to look through the papers. Realized she didn't have her birth certificate in the packet. They said she had to have that. She came back to the hotel and we had her mom email us a copy of it. They told her to come back with t... read complete review

My fiance had his, asc and medical in mexico city on dec. 18-2015 and that same day we got his results. Sunday morning he left to juarez and Today (12-21-2015) at 7:15 was his interview appt. He was in and out very quickly, asked him a few questions about how we met and when and that was it. the person who interviewed him was really nice and noticed he was nervous and told him to not worry, that everything was fine she just had to ask a few questions.
Goodluck to everyone who has upcoming interviews!

On Monday, Sept 21, I did the medical exam. It was very easy. I did not have to do urine sample. The nurse gave me a quick physical exam. I was able to pick up my exam results at 3pm.
On Tuesday, Sept 22, I did my biometrics. This appointment lasted only 5 minutes... consisting of taking my finger prints.
On Wednesday, Sept 23, I had my interview. The interview consisted of 8 questions. For example, where did you meet your girlfriend? Do you have children? The questions were very easy. The interview maybe lasted 10 minutes and was approved.
I received my K1 visa on Friday, Sept 25.

Where to start?

GENERAL INFO ABOUT THE AREA:

Well, first off, me and my fianceé both were under the impression that this was going to be a really rough area because the name Ciudad Juarez alone has a bad rep, but I for one was pleasantly surprised.

The airport left a little to be desired (such as handsoap in the men's room and a functional lock in the stall), but the area around the consulate was nice.

We stayed at the Ibis Juarez. It was a really clean hotel and has an AC that will turn your room into a freezer if you are not careful. A lot of people do hang out outside of the hotel which I found to be a bit strange, but it was really nice to be honest. And I booked it a little over a week in advance on hotels.com for about $25 a night. The hotel is a hotspot for people awaiting interviews as we say many couples staying there for that reason. The only downside is that the hotel has a booth that provides document support at ... read complete review
