This review is for K1 visa at the Vientiane Consulate.

We arrived a bit earlier than our scheduled appointment at 7:30am. There is a line outside you have to wait to get into through security so I recommend coming early. Once inside, we checked in and provided all of our requested documents. As we would later find out, this checkin time is so early because a lot of people were missing documents or needed to go back and get them, so it seemed as if they asked people to come early due to this reason alone. We ended up waiting until about 9:30am to start doing fingerprints, and we were the first interview to be called up at about 10:15am. Due to all the waiting, I highly recommend bringing a book or something to entertain yourself while waiting!

Me and my fiance came up to the window after his name was called together. The officer told us that I could stay but only my fiance could answer the questions. He also commented that he didn't get to conduct many inte... read complete review

My Fiancée interview was on July 19 2017. We arrive there at 7am and her interview was at 8am. There is no parking lot there so your only option is to park along the street. I went along my Fiancee however there was confusion by the security guard and only allow her to go inside even though I show them my US passport. I sadly wave at my fiancée before heading back to the car. Anywho, she finally came out around 1030 with a smile on her face. I ask her how did it go and from her expressions it was good news. The consulate ask her four questions: when did you meet? How did you meet? Do you have any relatives in the state? How many sister do you have? And that was it. My fiancée told me there where 3 other k-1 and two of them go denied because they lack the documents requested. So make sure you obtain all the documents otherwise they will be tough on you.

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

Prior to the interview I had contacted the consulate to clarify some things and to make sure I (the petitioner) could attend the interview and wait in the waiting area. They informed me that it was ok for me to attend along with my wife.

We arrived about 30 minutes early for my wife's interview. There is no parking available for visitors so we had to park across the street on the side of the road. After verifying my wife's interview letter and looking at our passports, they allowed us to enter. We gave our phones to keep at the security booth and then went inside to the interview waiting area.

We had to wait for about 10 minutes initially, then a Lao staff member called over the intercom for my wife to come up to one of the windows. She gave them all of the documents, except for her birth certificate. They also requested to see her National ID card, which was unexpected because it wasn't listed on the specific checklist PDF for the Laos US embassy, but lu... read complete review

It was over a year ago but here is my review of the US Embassy in Vientiane.

The US embassy is located right in Vientiane near Talot Sao Mall and I was fortunate enough to attend the K1 interview with my wife. At the US Embassy, they did allow me to enter into the interview area. Before you enter, they confiscate cell phones and cameras. In the interview area, there is one main hall that every one sits at and four glass window where the interviewers sat behind. There were about 10-15 people interviewing that day. Most were for travel visas and about 4 people were for K1 visas. The travel visa interviewees went first and then the k1 visa candidates.

When we were called. We walked up to Window 1. Behind the window was one Hmong translator and one American Consular officer. The American consular officer Thank me for coming to support my fiance and then stated the interview was for my fiance not me. HE asked that I went back to sit on the benches whi... read complete review

his interview was simple and straightforward.
They just looked at our letter that we submitted of how we met. It took less than five minutes. They asked him where we met, what i do for a living and what i like to do during my spare time. And they asked him if he was granted hia visa how long before will he leave to the US. He
