When applying for a K1 visa, be sure and add information about your US residence, they dont ask for this up front, but will ask for it AFTER the interview. It could delay your process.
I work in Kuwait as a US contractor, I was allowed to go with my fiancee into the Embassy while she talked to interview officer. This may not be a good idea, they want you to prove that you have met together BEFORE filing for K1 visa. Make sure that you can show dates, and places of meeting at least once before filing for the visa.
We had our K1 visa interview on 29 OCT 2013, I have been asked to provide some further evidence of domicile in the USA, it was quickly provided, then weeks went by, nothing accept showing our case on Administrative review. The whole process at the consulate was very straight forward. Make sure you have proof of domicile for a K-1 visa in the US, otherwise you will get denied pending further evidence! They did not spell this out in the letter they email you of what to bring to the consulate!

Luckily we went over VJ consular interview questions because they were basically the same. I told my fiance they might try and trick you by saying something wrong and seeing if you corrected them. I told him they will call me your wife or get dates mixed up. Well they did that - called me his wife, tried to mix up the dates of my trips and saying stuff like how it was nice my mom came to visit on my second (not third) trip - but he corrected them each time.
*Side note* The interviewer was training someone else so she put her hand over the microphone and said to the trainee that she was trying to trip him up to make sure he was real, but he was doing good with all the answers. Well, he could hear her say all that and told her as much when she came back on. She laughed, thought it was funny and said okay no more of that.
She was initially confused by him because he has Iranian citizenship so she asked if he needed a Farsi translator and he said no, he does... read complete review
