This review isn't about the actual interview itself, but the first time you have to visit the Tokyo consulate to submit all of the documents (I-130, I-864, DS-230, etc). I arrived at the consulate about an hour before the appointment, which was supposed to be for 2PM. There were about 3 or 4 couples were in front of us and we all had to wait until 2PM to begin going through security to enter the complex. In short, the time of your meeting is not the actual time of your meeting, it's the time that you will be admitted into security. You are led to 3 sets of doors that will be closed and you have to wait there until they decide they are ready. Once they open the doors, just go on ahead and go in. The people in front of us were just standing around, not knowing what to do for about 3 minutes. I got sick of waiting for nothing and passed right by 2 couples and got behind the others who were smart enough to do the same. You go to a computer and pick the visa that you're applying for... read complete review

The interviewer asked me very few things such as where I and my fiance met or what I was doing then. He didn't ask me to show him any photo or evidence. The interview lasted for only five minutes and at the end of it, he said that I would get my visa within a week and I received my passport three days after the interview.

The Tokyo embassy was very freindly but also very thorough. As long as you provide the embassy with the exact documents they ask for they will work your case very fast. The interview was easy. I (the petitioner) was able to request and was granted an interview date for my fiance. I attended the interview, only four questions were asked and they didn't ask to se any evidence. At the end of the interview we were told that we passed but one more document was required (NBI police clearance from Phils)and that our visa would be issued as soon as we delivered the document. We delivered the document and the embassy kept their word. We got the visa the next day.
