About an hour wait, interviewer was very friendly, only asked the most basic of questions, when we met, when we were engaged, nothing even so far as favorite food or sports teams as I have seen asked as reported by members in the forum.

The appointment process was super fast too. I could have received an appointment for the following week, no wait hardly at all, but needed to hold up for the hospital packet, otherwise from the time the embassy notified me of having the packet and my application to interview would have been about 10 days.

My husband had his interview at the Tokyo embassy on 4/13. In line with what others here have experienced, everything went very smoothly and the interview was very easy. In fact, the only trouble we had was with the security officer outside, who seemed to think I wasn't allowed to come in with him. After a battle of wills ("I think you aren't allowed inside." "Uh... I think I am." and so on), the officer's coworker set him straight and told him that since I am a US citizen it's okay for me to go in.

So, if you want to accompany your wife or fiance for emotional support and the security officers try to give you some nonsense about not being allowed inside, don't let them! As long as you have ID to prove your citizenship, they should let you in.

It was a good thing I got in, too, because I had done ALL of the paperwork for the visa and my husband wouldn't have known what an Affidavit of Support was if it jumped up and bit him.

Anyway. His app... read complete review

As Embassy instruction, I went to Embassy at 15min before 9am. and It seems like I was the last entry person as interview on Monday morning.
Everyone came into Embassy more than half hour earlier than me.

Interview itself was smoothly and counsalor was nice person.
My fiance sent his I-134 form directly to Embassy. but they did not received yet at the time of Interview. I told them that my fiance sent Email them to notificated in advance, and I pass copy of all proof and I-134 for them.
They were approved my visa!

YAY!

I just finished my interview about an hour ago. And I was approved!!!
Here's my experience.

Arrived the embassy at 7:50 am for my 8:30 am interview time. There are 3 people in line in front of me. Security thing went well without any problem.

Documents that I brought:
1) Passport
2) 2 Passport sized photos (which I had to retake again at the embassy)
3) Interview Letter
4) Medical Results
5) Letter pack plus with japanese address on
6) Copies of entire packages that I sent to USCIS and NVC( I-130 and stuff)

Documents that they needed:
1) Passport
2) 2 Passport sized photos
3) Medical Results
4) Letter pack plus

When I submitted my documents, I told the lady that I need to update my U.S. mailing address. They first gave me a piece of paper to fill in both japanese and american addresses. So I told her that this address that I wrote here is wh... read complete review

We were in the consulate for about an hour and a half..2 hours, but it felt like forever especially for our 2-year old. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful and made us feel very at ease. They asked my spouse standard questions like where did we meet, the progression of our relationship, when did we start living together, about previous marriages and if either one of us had other children.. About our wedding.. Extensive, but no "curve balls." Maybe they were curious as im thinking they don't get very many same-sex couples. Glad it's over and we can get on with our lives.. It was a terrible long 13 months... Plus 4 months getting ready to start the process!!
