According to Keiko, who went to the interview alone, it was a very easy, low stress, experience. We followed the advice that we found here on the VJ website and were well prepared and as a consequence everything went very smoothly. As a note to others who may be in a similar situation to ours, Keiko is not a Japanese national, but rather a South Korean citizen who has been a life long resident of Japan (Zainichi). Because of her nationality, she had to request and submit some additional documentation from the South Korean Embassy in Japan, which the U.S. Embassy clearly outlined in the packet that they sent to her. We followed their instructions and everything went smoothly with both the U.S. and South Korean Embassies in Japan and Keiko's interview date and visa were granted as quickly as for most Japanese citizens.

My interview was at 9:15, I arrived at around 8:30 hoping to get through the process quickly. The steps were basically the same as everyone else described: handing in documents, fingerprints then actual interview. The waiting time for the entire process was around 3 hours but they didn't seen to go in order so someone who arrived after you may finish before you. Carry a book to pass the time. Outside food and drink aren't allowed but there is a drink vending machine in the waiting room.

My interview lasted about 5 minutes. The officer was pretty friendly and asked simple questions. Some of the questions asked were:
- When did your fiancé propose?
- How did he propose?
- When did you first meet?
- Where was your first date?
- What are his hobbies

He didn't ask for any pictures or messages. After the questions he said "Congratulations you should receive your passport with the visa in a week". Very smooth and easy.

The american consul who interviewed me was very friendly.. He asked me 4 qestions..

1. What's your fiancee's name and birthday?
2. How did you meet?
3. How were you able to sustain a long distance at such a young age?
4. How did he propose?

The interview took 10 minutes..
