Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

My interview schedule was at 9am on April 3, 2017. When husband and I arrived there at 7:40AM, there was already a line of 6 people waiting. I went in with my husband (but I was interviewed alone) around 8:30 and finished around 9:45.

Interview Questions:

1. How did you guys meet?
2. When did you meet?
3. When did you start dating?
4. When did you guys move in together?
5. When did he propose?
6. Have you met any of his family or friends?
7. Where and when did you get married?
8. Why are you moving to the US?

Overall it was a very pleasant experience. The officer who interviewed me was very polite and friendly---no curveball questions. I also noticed that on top of the very thick pile of documents he was handling (my packets from USCIS and NVC combined) there was a piece of paper that pretty much summarized the entire story of our relationship. I even saw that my past visa tourist denial fro... read complete review

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

I am writing this review on account for my wife and step daughter who went through the IR1/CR1 process at the Embassy in Tokyo, Japan. Their appointment time was relatively early, approximately 8am from what I remember. My wife and daughter arrived earlier than expected to account for processing through security and whatnot. They had all their documentation such as appointment letters to show to the security personnel. After processing through security, she made her way into the Embassy.

Upon entering the Embassy, she had to get new passport photos because the ones she had were not able to be used due to the background color. My wife and daughter waited approximately 30 minutes before they were called to the first window. At that time, they reviewed her paperwork and then proceeded to tell her to wait in the seating area once again. Another 10 or so minutes pass by and she was called up again for fingerprinting. From there, they sat down again and waited another 10-20 m... read complete review

Review Topic: K1 Visa

The interview went well. They were very courteous. She was missing a police report from Romania but they allowed her to fix the problem and send them the information. The visa was issued the same day they received the police report.

Review Topic: General Review

A very, very late review from a 2015 interview.
Basically a very similar experience that others have had at this embassy. Things went smoothly, people were nice, it was over in a matter of minutes. The only issue was at one point the staff had misplaced a document which we had filed and told us we would need to send it at a later date — we let them know that they had just been handed the document a few minutes earlier, the document was found and no other problems.
