Hi,
Though I was in Jamaica during my fiances's interview I was not allowed inside. I waited about 3 hours outside for him. He described the processing as going smoothly. He then waited a little while for the officer to call him to the window. He said the officer asked him what do I do for a living ? Then there was a brief pause while the officer appeared to be doing something on the computer. Then he was asked, How did you meet your fiancee ? and How many times have we met ? My fiance had two expandable folders of photos, call records, receipts, text messages and my fiancial supporting documents (job letter, taxes etc. ) and the officer did NOT ask for any of them. Not even the non-impediment to marriage paper or his original divorce decree. With the appointment letter emailed from the embassy there was a K1 visa checklist attached to the email. Those were the only documents he had DS-156, 156K and 157 and whatever else like the police record, passport, medical etc. They ... read complete review

Had interview today at 9:30 today and getting to the embassy was indeed a journey but we made it, thank God! So my fiancé and I made if pretty much for 9:30 even thou we left Montego Bay at 4:40am. Arriving at the embassy we were greeted by an employee outside the embassy asking for DS 156/156k/157/160/230, told her ds160 wasn’t on the checklist to bring, we gave her the ds 230 as we had brought 2 copies just in case and gave them to her. She lacks customer service major, even my fiancé notice and was looking at her strange. My fiancé wasn’t allowed to enter inside the embassy which we already knew based on reviews on VJ but was hoping to get lucky. Anyways I went through the security checkpoint and then inside the embassy building, collected my number (the lucky one After about 10-15mins, my number was called and documents were collected and ds230 was returned to me, I was asked for the Affidavit of Support (I134), I attached with bank state... read complete review

My fiancé s interview was on Jan. 20, 2014. His appointment was 8:30. He arrived at 7am but went in at 7:30. He waited on line (long line). Someone checked all of his documents. All paperwork was in order. After he went in he was given a number and waited to be called again. A second person asked for documents and took all of them. He was fingerprinted. He then had to wait to be called a third time. This was the actual interview. He was only asked three questions. 1) How did you meet your fiancé? 2) What does your fiancé do for a living? 3) Did you register for DHL? He knew then he was approved. He stated overall he had a good experience. The consular officer was pleasant. The worst part was the waiting. He felt as long as you have your papers in order you will be fine. He was told he had to wait about two weeks for his visa.

My Husband and I arrived at the embassy at 8:00am for his 8:00am appointment. I was not allowed inside so I had to wait across the street. When he got inside he went through security and took a seat. He waited thirty minutes and was called to the window where they took his medical and fingerprints. He sat down again and waited two hours for the actual interview. When his name was called he was greeted by a young white male. He was sworn in and was asked the following questions.
- Where did you meet your wife
- How long did it take her to make her first trip to Jamaica
- What kind of work does your wife do
- How long did it take you guys to get married
The interviewer said I see your wife comes to Jamaica a lot when is the last time you saw her? My husband said My wife is right outside. After that he said he was approved. My husband said the interview was like having a conversation. Have all your paperwork in order and you will be fine.
