It's hard to give the embassy a rating of 4 since we were approved. I'm sure most who are approved give it a 5 while those who were not either give it a 1 or don't come back to ever write anything. But I want to give an objective review of the experience. We stayed at Casa MiraNapoli which is a quaint and lovely bed and breakfast located a 5 minute walk of the embassy. It was great to be so close and the woman who runs the place is used to seeing nervous couples staying with her awaiting their embassy appointment. She was sweet and helpful and very accommodating. Wifi, computer and printer are available at Casa MiraNapoli which we found very helpful. It was clean, cozy and welcoming and a good environment to set up shop in. The owner called a driver for us to schedule our pickup the next morning for the medical visit. We kept his number on us and called on him again a couple of times during our stay too. The medical visit was scheduled by the consulate one day before the interview. Our... read complete review

I will try to report anything I find useful as before doing the interview I had many doubts. My experience may not be the same as everyone else's but it still counts for something!

Step 1: e-mail with interview date
I received this a little below two months before the date scheduled. At this stage is also automatically booked a medical examination at Istituto Diagnostico Varelli for the day before the interview.

Step 2: arranging the accommodations
It is advised to book for a hotel or b&b near the consulate as appointments are often in the morning and the earlier you get there, the earlier you are accepted into the consulate.
- For those who want to book for a hotel near the consulate: we stayed at B&B Mira Napoli and had a good time, the price was fair and they treated us really well. It is about 5 minutes away from the consulate walking.
- For those who do not want to book for a hotel near the consulate: there is a metro st... read complete review

I just had my interview today (09/28/16) so I wanted to share my experience. The process is simple, just a lot of waiting in line. They schedule your medical and your interview for you once you email/fax the Applicant's Statement received in Packet3.
The medical takes place the day before your interview at Istituto Varelli, which opens at 7. My appointment was at 8, but I read other reviews so I was there by 7.15 and I already had 3 people in front of me. Be there early to be done early! When you go in you get your number pressing the "consolato" button on the machine. When your number is called, you go to the window and the lady takes your passport and asks you to write down your address in Italy and your name. Then you wait to be called by a nurse who will draw some blood. After that you are taken to the other side of the clinic and you wait to be called in. Once you're called in, this very old guy asks for you vaccination records and for your email, 4 pictures, address in the... read complete review

The process through Naples was very simple. They schedule the medical for you, it is the day before interview. You go in, click the ticket machine for consulate, then wait to be called. First they take blood. You sit and wait some more, this time they take xrays. Sit and wait some more, then you talk to a doc who reviews immunization history (or lack of on our part) and gets stateside address you'll be staying, current address, and 4 pictures. The only immunizations they required were MMR and Td (tetanus, diphtheria). He then tells you to go pay (€170 for medical, €62 for immunizations if you have none). After paying you wait some more. When you get called you go downstairs where they give you your immunizations if needed, then a doc goes over your DS-3026, checks eyes, height, weight, ect. You are then finished and good to go. In total it took about 2 hours.

The following day you have the interview. We had a 0800 appointment and arrived at 7:35 with 2 other i... read complete review
