MEDICAL VISIT at ISTITUTO DIAGNOSTICO VARELLI (Naples)

The instructions say that applicants are expected to arrive at 8:00am for the medical examination. I was in front of the Varelli by 6:45am and I already had 3 people waiting in front of me. The place opened at 7:00am and I went inside. I found a ticketing machine and I pressed "Consulate". My number was C1 and a young lady started calling for people that were there for the consulate. I sat in a waiting room and then they called me from one of the rooms nearby.
Exams in order:
1. Blood test;
2. They sent me to the bathroom to collect an urine sample;
3. They checked my DS-160 confirmation page, they took 4 out of the 6 passport style pics, they checked my vaccines/immunization records, they asked for my address in Italy, my future address in the US and my e-mail address. Unfortunately after they checked my vaccines records, I was missing the one for influenza (it wasn't available at the ti... read complete review

Review Topic: Direct Consular Filing

My visa was approved yesterday! Overall, it was a pleasant experience, and staff, both at the clinic and the consulate, were super friendly.

HOTEL: I stayed at Hotel Mergellina (Via Giordano Bruno 115 Napoli) which is just a 5-minute walk from the consulate and the metro station; staff were really helpful and were able to call a driver for me very early in the morning to go to my medical examination appointment. The hotel is very close to a famous pizzeria where I had the best pizza ever. Mine was a solo trip as my husband is currently deployed. If you are, like me, a spouse of a deployed member of the military, you can attend your interview without the petitioner.

MEDICAL EXAMINATION: I went to the medical appointment an hour earlier the time indicated on the instruction received after my I-130 was approved, and I was already third in line. I would highly recommend that you come there early so you don't have to wait too much. I was out around 9:15. First... read complete review

First thing first you'll melt under the sun if you go during the summer, you must wait outside the guard house because you must pass through security check one by one and it will take about 1 hour.
Inside the waiting room there are seats and air conditioner, toilette, passport pictures kiosk, visa fee atm and a vending machine.
For those whom apply for a k1 visa I suggest to take the tax returns of the petitioner anyway even if not self employed and print the visa fee receipt and if you do so you'll turn will last 3..4 minutes maximum, it was a torture to wait hours for other people having lack of documents, I'm been waiting 6 hours and half for just 20 persons before me and 4..5 employers working so hard, each ppl lost more than 20 minutes some of them even 1 hour, only those who have all that the embassy wants in the instructions will end their turn in few seconds and get the visa approved, the others will just make everything so long for themselves and for others wait... read complete review

Overall: very pleasant, the staff is nice and the process smooth (if you are on VisaJourney!)

As stated previously, the interview process lasts two days. I hope my review can provide some further insights to people that like me are a bit anxious! lol

Day 1: Medical Exam at Istituto Varelli

*Documents asked at the Medical Interview:
- PASSPORT!
- 4 pictures (fototessera 5x5)
- vaccines record (you can get them for free at your local ASL or ULSS)
- case number (the one that starts with NPL...)
- receipt of payment for the interview (where your case number is at - it's the confirmation email they send you)
- 220€ (I ended up paying 249 for the antitetano that had expired)
- your current address and the address where you will live in the US
Remember that you CAN have breakfast (no fasting required before the blood test)

I got an Airbnb near the US embassy, so I took a ... read complete review

Everything went smooth from the medical exam to the interview, very cordial and nice people.
I was asked alot of question about my relationship, the pre interview took like 30 minutes, then the final one around 5 minutes.
After that they said my visa was approved :D
