Let me tell you, the interview part is the easiest one!
Waiting for them to process it and their unresponsiveness was the worst part! It took them 6.5 weeks to issue the visa and that's with the involvement of my fiance's congressman. (twice!!!!).
Arrived at 7:45 sharp. Lots of parking space for free on the street above the consulate- Yam Hamelach st. (Dead sea st.). Only 2 people in line in front of me. Got to the check in window outside, stated my name and got a number and the paper for Sha'al. Waited 2 mins to get inside and go through security. They asked me to open the medical envelope outside and then come back in. Promised it's OK and it was. You need to leave you cellphone with them. I left it in the car and only brought a carton bag with all my documents, my wallet, a bottle of water and a sweater. But I saw other people there with backpacks so I guess they let you bring stuff in. Got into the interviews hall. There were maybe 5 parties already waiting. Met ano... read complete review

They took the maximum time possible for every step of the process. Answering emails also took a very long time, and won't answer questions by phone. One idiot made a mistake and almost gave me a heart attack when he couldn't find my marriage licence even though all this info had been forwarded months prior from the NVC. The interview itself went well, once I actually got to the window after waiting for 3 hours past my scheduled appointment time. It's difficult to find parking in the area and the consulate is very hard to find. The set up for the interviews was bizarre - I had to scream through thick glass windows and it was difficult to hear the questions, especially since other people were right next to me going through the same thing. But, I'm in the US now so I guess it wasn't too bad! javascript:emoticon('')

The process at the consulate was just as I had heard. They let me come in with my fiance after a little bit of begging. First we were sent up to a window to give them all the paperwork, there was 2 problems I forgot to bring 2 copies of the I-156 and instead of the I-134 I filled out the I-864 for the affidavit of support. They let both of them slide, thankfully!! Then there was a little bit of problem with the $350 payment since we had paid at the post office (like the instructions said) instead of there at the consulate but they worked it out. When we got to the actual interview we were relived to have a nice guy from New York who loved the story of how we met and wanted to hear all about it. He also made fun of one of our facebook conversations I printed out. In the end he told us we were approved and it might take a little extra time to get back the Visa because of the upcoming Jewish holidays. All and all a good experience and I am very happy its over with :-)

Hello,
I am waiting already for a month after I was told that I was approved in the interview for an immigration visa based on merriege and my visa will be issued but I haven't hear from the consulate yet. I have emailed them to find out if there is any additional doc they need but they didn't respond to me yet. Is anybody went through the same problem? I read that some cases take additional processing but the officer did not tell me anything about it, does anybody know how long this process takes? do they let the person know that his case is on this process or that's what I should expect when it is taking so long?
my interview was excetlly a month ago...

My fiance had his K1 interview appointment on 8/3/11 at 7:45 am at the Jerusalem consulate. He went alone. He arrived early for his interview. After going through security he waited for a bit to be called to window one. He noticed that people were called to windows by languages (Russians were called to a Russian officer, Israelis to an Israeli, Americans to Americans & Arabic speaking petitioners to an Arab). So my fiance was called to a Russian officer who immediately began speaking to him in Russian with the comment "whats with all the papers?" (he had a binder of relationship evidence, about 200pgs worth of financial support papers and his medical). The officer then took all his documents, one by one- DS 156, 156k, 157, military records (discharge papers), sealed envelope from medical and then I-134 (since I am a student I had my parents co-sponsor us and had him bring all my school papers- they didn't want anything but the affidavit from my sponsors signed in front of a notary and ... read complete review
