Review Topic: K1 Visa

We are so happy with the experience with the US Consulate in Jakarta. They treated my fiance so fantastic. We were the first gay couple to be granted K1 at the Consulate. They expressed their full support of DOMA and the right of all couples to be happy in marriage. They made him feel so comfortable and asked very good questions about our relationship. Of course they ask about how we met and communicate. Questions about me, my job and house. And my finance indicate the interviewer genuinely was happy to see our pictures and mentioned we looked so happy together. He wished us the best of luck and was happy to approve our visa.

Review Topic: K1 Visa

I only have good things to say about the interview process.
We arrived at the embassy 30 minutes early. We knew it was too early but we were afraid to be stuck in traffic if we left too late. We waited outside until 10 minutes before our appointment time. We showed the email from the embassy and went right in.
We went straight to window 5, as instructed in our email. I found the lady at window 5 to be pretty friendly. She was impressed that all of our documents were in perfect order. We went to window 6 after finishing at window 5. Window 6 is where you pay the fee of 240 USD. The lady at window 6 asked us to sit until our name was called.
About 20 minutes later, a man asked us to step to window 1. He took my fiance's fingerprints and made him swear to tell the truth. After that, he asked my fiance' and I a few questions. The questions were:
1. How did you meet?
2. What does your fiance' do in the USA?
3. Where will you live?
4. Who in... read complete review

Review Topic: K1 Visa

My K1 visa interview was scheduled September 10, 2013 at 12:30 PM. I arrived at 12:05, I showed my appointment email print out to the guard but there wasn’t my name on the list. He asked me whether it’s an immigrant or non immigrant visa, I wasn’t sure so I said K1 visa and apparently it’s considered as an immigrant visa. I had to wait standing around 20 minutes in front of the gate, it wasn’t so bad. Then the security guard asked all of the people waiting to prepare our passports in hand, turn off our cell phones and he gave out each of us a tray to put our cell phone, ear phone, any electronic device, stapler, nail clipper. He let all of us in, scanned my bag, gave me a name tag and a card to pick up my stuffs.

I went inside the consulate office. Since there was a pretty long queue the consular lady also opened window 7, besides window 5 as mentioned in packet 4. She scanned through my documents so fast, I was kind of nervous at this point as some VJers tal... read complete review
