Our interview on lucky Friday the 13th (April 2007) was successful!! YEA!

First of all, we had requested (TWICE) a Telugu translator because my guy speaks only broken English. They replied twice saying “Okay, you are most welcome”. But there was no translator there at the interview available to him. All the questions were asked in English and my guy had to make do with short answers in English sprinkled with a bit of Telugu. He said the questions were easy so anyone knowing even a small amount of English will do fine. Note on Chennai consulate: they reply to emails IMMEDIATELY but they are not always helpful.

My guy showed up at 6:30 AM for 9 AM interview, he was like 4th in line and they let in lines at about 7:45 AM. It ended up he was the VERY LAST one they interviewed. He said he was alone in the room by the time they called his name. He came out of the Consulate finally at 1:30 PM. A 7-hour mostly waiting ordeal. Note to others: come at 7:45 AM n... read complete review

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

IR1 Visa Interview - Tuesday, April 3, 2007: My spouse's interview was scheduled at 8:00 Am, New Delhi US Embassy. He arrived an hour and half early to stand in line, but as he arrived, the guard saw his letter and directed him to stand in the U.S. line, which was much shorter. He went through security and was directed where to sit to wait for about two hours. They gave back all the VFS papers and kept the police report and medical exam. There were two interviewers, a young man and an middle-age woman. They made my spouse feel at ease and even joked with him about the amount of phone calls/bills we had, and the cards we sent to each other. They said "your visa is approved and you may pick up your passport and visa next week" and then he thanked them and we celebrated on the telephone outside the embassy. Very smooth and efficient.

It was really straight forward. She entered at 7:30am and they called her up to the window and ask a few questions. Then she waited, around 12 she was called for the interview. Questions asked, When did we meet? questions about my previous marriage, kids names, When did we 1st meet in person, when did we last meet in person.

Review Topic: K3 Visa

I had a 9am appointment for the K3 interview. As suggested I went to the Chennai consulate at 8.45am and waited in line before the window for my passport and interview letter to be checked. I was ushered inside the consulate as soon as they saw the yellow interview letter. The documents I was carrying were inspected by the security officers and I was asked if I was carrying any sealed envelopes or CDs and then I was asked to go to the "Main building". At this place all those appearing for an immigrant visa interview were seated separately, my original interview letter was taken at this point and I was told I'd be called to produce my documents. A while later I was called by name and asked to produce my passport, DD . At this point the lady also checked the documents that I had submitted at the VFS the previous week. She asked me a few questions - Did you travel outside India? Where? Why? Is this the first Marriage for both of you? Then she gave me a token with a number and asked me to... read complete review
