The following review is for my wife who had her interview @ the US Consulate in Chennai.
She got to the consulate at 8:15am for her interview scheduled at 9am. Going through initial security, they went through all the documents that were being brought into the consulate. I had sent my sealed employer letter (given to me as such), and since it was sealed, they asked her to step outside and open the letter and place it with the rest of the documents. Once inside, she was directed to another building for immigrant visas. Once there, an individual asked her for her interview letter and then asked her to have a seat. When her name was called, she went to the counter and was asked when the wedding was, and wanted to see the picture of the wedding "ritual", and took the wedding invitation. She was asked to be seated and was then called to be finger printed. She was asked to take a seat again and was told to wait until she was called for the interview. She was called for the int... read complete review

Interview went much smoother this time around. He was put on mandatory AP, keeping his passport. The AP lasted less than a month, and he received his visa 29 days after the interview date.

Excellent. Only thing is that they did not let me (US citizen) to accompany my wife to the interview and I was stopped outside. However, they did tell me that if I walk over a bit I should see another entrance and if I present my passport they will let me in to the Waiting area. I went and sat in the waiting area for some time and then came and waited outside the first gate so i can meet my wife when she comes out and not miss her.
After about 1.5hr my wife came out and she said that everyone at the embassy were very courteous and helpful. Overall very satisfying. Also prior to the interview we called the embassy a few times with questions on our interview date, documents to submit to VFS etc and the staff was extremely courteous and helpful on the phone as well as through email.
