Review Topic: K1 Visa

My fiancee had her successful interview on 10/24/2013. Since she had been denied twice for visit and student visas, I din't want to take any chances so I flew to Ghana to go with her. I must say that it is an added bonus if the petitioner can also go to the interview. Her appointment time was 7.30am so by 6.30am we were at the embassy and they started allowing us in right after 7am. Since I was with her, I decided to take charge of the whole process. She was the third person to be called. First she was called to the window 2 where a Ghanaian lady asked her to submit all the documents she brought. I was holding everything in a file so I took all of them out and gave them to her. She asked me if I was the petitioner and I replied yes so she wrote something on our file. She then started going through the documents but to my amazement, she started giving some back to me. Documents like my bank statement, tax transcripts, employment letter and phone bills were all returned with the explanat... read complete review

Review Topic: K1 Visa

I went to the embassy on Tuesday October 8, 2013 for my interview. After submitting all my docs, i was asked to pay the K1 visa fee of $240 (528 Ghana Cedis) to the cashier. Unfortunately, the counting machine wouldn't function after 5hrs of waiting. I was therefore given a new appointment for Wednesday October 9. I got to the embassy at 7.20am on the Wednesday.
Once the cashier opened her window, i paid my visa fee. She was very apologetic for what happened the previous day with the counting machine. After having paid the visa fee, i went to take my finger prints. I retired back to my sit and started observing with keen interest what was happening with those having their interviews. I noticed that everybody who went to Window 5 seem to be denied though not all of them but the majority. Some passed by sobbing and others with very red eyes with tears almost flowing. I became more than nervous at this instance. Just when i was praying that i shouldnt be called to Window 5, i he... read complete review

(BACKGROUND) I (USC) have been living in country with fiance for the past 4 years.

I (the USC petitioner) arrived at the embassy at with my fiance at 7:15. I had read that USC cannot enter until 8:30 so I was expecting to be sent away but they allowed me to enter with him. We gave our appointment letter to the receptionist and were told to be seated. After 10 minutes they called us up to a window where a woman DESTROYED my neatly organized binder by ripping out only the docs she wanted (birth cert, i-134, pictures, ds 156 and 156k) and then gave it back to me. All that work spent organizing and filing only to be torn apart in 2 minutes by a rude lady... She told us to pay the cashier, but it was 730 and the cashier didn't open until 8.
We waited another 10 minutes and were called back to another window where my fiance's fingerprints were taken.
By 8:30 the cashier was open and we paid the fee ($240= GHS 528!!!) Many people did not anticipate the high excha... read complete review
