From the start of the process (applying for DCF through exceptional circumstances) and through all of the steps, the Frankfurt Consulate did a professional job answering questions and getting to the next stage promptly. This is my review of the interview step.
I got there around 7.20am, it was already pretty busy. It was a really cold December morning but they had covered the queueing area and had heaters too which melted the ice on the ground.
I presented my appointment paper at the first kiosk and stood in line for a security check. This was slow until they opened properly at 8am, when they started taking 5 people at a time. There is a strict no laptop policy and people were turned away who had laptops and told to store them at a local store. They did emphasize that even if that made them late, they would wait for them. Mobile phones, smart watches, fit bits etc. are all stored at the security kiosk. They even took my car keys and a random charging cord ... read complete review

I had my interview appointment at 8:30 on December 16th
- i was there at 8:15 , showed them my DS confirmation page and passport, got a number and went through security, when i walked I went straight to window 22 to give them my appointment confirmation and they told me to sit down and wait for my number to be called
- at 9:15 they called my number and i had to go to window 19 where they took my fingerprints and made sure the current address and a few other things i put in the DS form were true which took about 10-15 minutes, they also explained what will happen once i get approved (all in german), and I gave them my I-134 form with the W2, tax return and an employment letter at that point, as well as my birth certificate + copy and my police certificate + copy and the paper where i had to fill out all the places I've lived after turning 16
- at 10:15 i had my interview which lasted about 10 minutes, the questions were really easy and they didnt need any ad... read complete review

After security I went to window 22, where the cashier took my passport and photo and the document delivery confirmation.
I took a seat and after roughly 20 minutes went to window 18 to give all my documents to the agent and received a little booklet about immigrants rights, spousal abuse and human trafficking. After the agent ensured all necessary paperwork was there and me confirming the address in the US where my green card and SSN are to be delivered to I was asked to take a seat again.
After about 30 more minutes I went to window 15, where the consular officer asked how I met my wife and how we got engaged and married. We briefly talked about my DUI in 2011 and that I´m on the wagon now, afterwards she just asked about my military service, gave me back all the original documents and told me "Congratulations, I´m approving your visa today".
From queuing at the consulate to kissing my wife at the car afterwards it took around 2 hrs, everyone was ver... read complete review

We arrived early, there was a short line even before 7am.
My appointment was at 8am. We got in line around 7.35am. (my husband waited in line with me, but I went in by myself as planned)
It took around 45 minutes until I could enter the security check. Since I did not have any electronics I was in the main building within a few minutes.
Walked up to window 22.. there was only one person in front of me. The chashier was super friendly. I paid with my german visa debit card.
Waited in front of windows 18 and 19 for about 3-5 minutes until my number was called. The lady checked all my information (in german).
Sat down again, waited for another 5-7 minutes until I got called to window 14 where I had my interview.
The officer was super nice, I told her about our relationship etc. She smiled, was friendly (which helped a lot since I was super nervous!).
The interview took a couple of minutes. In the end she told m... read complete review

Revision: 2* because they mistakenly sent the passport to our home in Austria. We had to take 8 hr train ride each way to get passport in time for flight 1 week after interview. We never paid for shipment nor registered with courier. Sehr stressig!
We arrived at 7:35, later than we planned for the 8:00 appt. This seemed to be just before the peak crowd. It took about 30 minutes to get to the 1st window, with the prior mentioned unfriendly woman. I had written the consulate the prior week to seek permission to accompany my applicant wife, granted. The woman grudgingly let me enter. Handy phones ARE allowed (they are powered off and left at security); I wish we knew as we had troubles with transportation. Someone had a smart watch they couldn't manage to turn off and had to leave. A woman had a big bottle of perfume and other things, but they kept those at security and allowed her in. The next window took about 15 minutes, then 5-10 for the document screening wi... read complete review
