Everything went very well and smooth.
My appointment was early in the morning(7:30). There was almost no line, I could quickly go up to the window, after showing my invitation letter, the lady gave me a waiting number.
Had to go through security to go in, did not bring a belt, mobile phone etc., so also here very quick.
Next came to a big hall, where at the info at the entry, I got handed an info paper, telling me to go right up to window 22. Everybody spoke German with me and was very friendly and helpful.
Window 22 is the cashiers desk, for the K1 Visa you have to pay online, so he only asked me, if I had the receipt and took my passport for further processing.
After waiting a little, my number got called and I got my fingerprints taken. Then I had to wait a little and got called to another window, where the interview took place. I had to make the sworn statement, that everything was answered true. The quest... read complete review

I got there very early and was waiting for the consulate to open. I was the first one in line for immigrant visas. When the window opened I was called up to it and received a number and they checked my passport. Then I went through security and afterwards to the building the interviews take place. I received an information sheet with what to do next and what happens once I received my visa etc.
I went straight to Window 22 and handed my passport to the lady behind the window. She put it in a zipped locked plastic bag which was attached to my file and asked me to sit down and wait. I waited around 15 min and was called to window 21 where my fingerprints were taken and the guy explained to me what's going to happen next and what I will receive in the mail and that I should not open the sealed envelope, what it looks like and that I have to send in the envelope with the medical examination when I apply for my greencard. My financée received the interview invitation letter 4 days before the interview took place.
Everybody was very friendly and talking in German (besides the security).
The whole interview process took only 1 hour including an approximately 30 minutes waiting time.
The interview itself took about 10 minutes and the consulter asked:
- How did your relationship start (how did you meet)?
- What did you do when you have been in the States?
- Where did you stay during that time?
- What kind of visa did you have at your last visit?
- Did your fionce visit you in Germany?
- When are you planning to enter the States?
Then he smiled at me and told me that he "doesn't see a problem in that case and he wishes me all the best for living in the States".

the Interview was very brief and friendly, he asked me some questions about my fiancé and me and after 10 Minutes chatting, he said: "your visa ist approved".

Fiance received interview invitation letter on the day before she had the interview. I emailed the consulate constantly keeping track of things. Make sure you do this, I knew her interview date via email before she even received the invitation letter so we were able to properly prepare.
They want you to actually mail original birth certificates and documents, we initially mailed copies since this is risky to send original documents in the mail. They sent us a request for these documents via email, and upon sending them the original documents we received a quick turnaround time for the interview date.
My fiance went to the interview by herself, and said mostly there were couples there together. Everyone was friendly she said. She thinks the guy who interviewed her was, while respectful somewhat biased and a little more "interested" asking questions about our relationship because she is Ukrainian.
