My fiance and I both attended our interview and arrived at about a half hour early for our appointment at 7:30. Neither of us is a German citizen, but we had no issues. We were put in the non-immigrant line and luckily had left almost all our belongings (cell phones, wallets) in a locker in the Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof for 4 euros. I highly recommend this for people without a car or hotel room! The U5 goes directly to the consulate from the Hauptbahnhof. I was very nervous the week before I had my interview.
All I can say is, that it was a pleasant experience.
Everyone was very friendly and helpful.
The interview was quick and painless. The nice consul talked to me in German but switched to English once or twice. He even joked. The interview was more like a chat between friends.
I brought a binder with all of our documents which was absoulutely not necessary. I got an E-Mail from the Visa Unit asking me to bring my original police certificate to the interview because I sent them the copy only. No one wanted to see the original.
