This was one of the worst experiences of our lives. The constant incompetence that we experienced from the NVC to the consulate was ridiculous. People make mistakes and there is zero accountability. The people that work at the NVC and consulates are garbage.

First let me tell you that you CAN bring your phone with you cause it was my big worry. They'll take it from you during security check and store it safely and give it back to you on your way out.

Arrived 5 mins prior to the appointment (don't do that haha), there was a line of people. But be aware that they're calling the times, so you might not need to join the line. Then two security check points, then got inside where embassy personnel took all needed forms, pics and directed me next. For me, at the first window they collected all needed documents, at the second window consul conducted my interview. I was "lucky" to catch the fire drill (safety training), so they actually had that exercise happening for about 30-40 mins while everyone inside was just waiting. But there's a low chance it'd happen to you too. All the personnel were very polite and friendly.
