I got to the ambassy at 12:40 (my appointment was at 1pm). When I entered the building, the waiting room was full of people. I took a ticket (I was number A 105), took a seat, and talked to the woman with her daughter in front of me who was number A 101. Therefore, there were at least 4 persons in front of me, waiting for the same kind of visa. I was called at window 5 after 30 minutes of waiting (I had a watch with me, no clock in the waiting room). The lady was very nice, she asked for my appointment letter as well as my ticket. Then she told me to go back to seat, that I will be called latter. 40 minutes latter, I was called window 6, that was another lady (not as cheerful as the other one but anyway) she asked for all the documents we are supposed to bring, she says she was happy to see that I correctly filled the forms DS-156, apparently a lot of people make mistakes filling this form (I actually filled it 3 times ) She asked me if I had already bought my plane... read complete review

I showed up at the security gate at 12:45pm, entered the Embassy, took a ticket and sat in this large waiting room surrounded by twenty windows. Between 1 and 2pm, the blinds opened one by one, revealing an officer behind most of them. However, only two ladies took care of the Immigrant Visas -- the only women. The others took care of non-immigrant visas, U.S. Citizens requests,...
There were four people with a "A" ticket before me (immigrant visas). Another fiancé visa (girl with ticket A109 and an amazingly calm baby, if you read it, Hi!), a marriage visa, someone getting a visa through his American father, and I'm not sure what the last one was about. Shortly after 1pm, I was called a first time to window 5. A French lady took my appointment letter and my ticket, and I sat again.
I was called again to the same window about two hours and half later. This time, she took all my documents and checked them one by one (with the I-134 ... read complete review

VFS has made our lives extremely difficult, right up to preparing for the interview. My French fiance, who lives in India, had all the documents prepare a month before the interview. We went together to VFS in Chennai, the closest office to where he lives, and went through our forms with the VFS people. We arrived with the HDFC demand draft, but the VFS people told us not to because I had already paid the $340 fee to USCIS when I filed the application. I was skeptical, so we didn't submit the Packet 3 then and I called VFS. They confirmed with confidence that he didn't have to pay another fee if I already paid the $340 in America. Then we went again to VFS (with the DD, just in case), and for the THIRD time VFS told us we shouldn't submit the money. Three weeks later, my fiance traveled to Mumbai for his interview, and the Consular Officer refused him entry because he didn't have the DD! He told the whole story and luckily secured an interview for the next day, then had to scramble to ... read complete review

My K-1 visa appointment was on March 29th at 1PM. As advised by Laure&Colin who had her appointment for a CR-1 visa 2 days before, I arrived at the embassy about 20 to 25 min before.
First step before entering the consulate/embassy was to show the appointment letter+passport to the guards outside. They also asked me to turn off my cell phone. Then I entered in the security room were an officer asked me to empty my pocket and remove my belt, while he checked my bag carefully, removing all the documents in my folder to check if there was a \"CD\" (disk) inside… He kept my phone, a mirror, and my antibacterial tube in a plastic bag and handed me a coupon to take it back later (I wore it around my neck).
I entered the embassy, took a ticket choosing \"immigrant-visa\" (that\'s what you need to select for a K-1, even if it\'s technically not an immigrant visa). My number was A103. Looks like this afternoon, the numbers started at A102 because there was only o... read complete review

My CR1 visa interview was on March 27 at 1PM (Paris embassy schedules immigrant visa interviews Tuesday through Thursday, always at 1), and my USC husband came back from the US to be with me.
Summary: overall, it was fast and easy. People were quite nice, especially the security guards. I didn't use any of the extra evidence of bona fide that I brought. The questions asked during the actual interview were not difficult, but some where definitely meant to make me trip. By 2PM, we were out and approved!
We arrived in front of 4, avenue Gabriel around 12:20, and the guard told us to come back 15-20 min later. Luckily, there's a park across the street where we could sit on a bench to wait.
We came back at 12:35, the first guards checked my interview letter and both our passports, then we went through the security check where they looked at the appointment letter and passports again, and screened our bag in the xray machine.
After ... read complete review
