According to what my fiance said, he went in during his scheduled appointment time. It was on a Wednesday, we had less than a week to prepare. They didn't ask for an Affidavit of Support, everything was quick. They asked how we met, what I did for a living, how long we have been together. Then they told him he was approved. The whole process took him around 3 hours, because he had to also leave the embassy to go get his picture taken at a nearby place.

As everybody previously said, you do have to wait across the street. I didn't even ask anyone about it, there was a group of people already waiting so I stayed with them and the security guard called 8:45 at first (my appointment was at 9:00) and then called us.

They looked inside my bag, checked if I had any metal on me and then I was in line where the lady checked all my papers. She took the sealed medical enveloppe (didn't open it), passport, DS-160 confirmation and police certificate; she put them all together, gave them back to me and told me to give them that way to the officer inside (this all happened outside by the way).

I then went into the "security room" with officers who put my phone, headphones and lip balms in a bag. They gave me a badge with a number on it to get them back later.

I finally arrived inside the consulate, followed the signs for "visa" and got in line with other people. It took a little while before I saw a first... read complete review

Hey guys!

I had to wait on the other side, on the sidewalk that the security guard called everyone for 845am, so it will depend of the time of your appointment. Then the first person looked into your bag (don't forget to not take suitcases, computer, etc) and his coworker examines you with a machine. After that, there is a lady (still outside) who will ask you for the passport, the medical record (the envelope), DS-160 and your police record, she gives everything back and then another security check exactly like in the airport, they will take your phone (that you had to turn off before) and give a number to take it back at the end.
Then you can go inside of the embassy, there is a board "visa" and you go to wait into the line. You will see a first person, she/he will take your papers, she asked me for : passport, two passport pictures american size, ds-160, birth certificate, police record, medical record (she opened it), the letter of intent of my fiance (do no... read complete review

Bonjour,
