*Interview actually occurred at Guayaquil.
7:25 Left Hotel Alborada (seems very safe, we have stayed here 4 or 5 nights, 40 bucks per night)
7:48 V and I arrived upstairs of immigration office through immigrant visa line (much shorter at 3 people instead of ~40 people). There were 0 people in the citizen line, but I chose to go with V through the immigration line.
*Guards unsure of proper location for K visa applicants, we decide to hang out upstairs – this turns out to be correct. Upstairs is “residencia”. Guards went through our accordion file of evidence and opened our XRAY document .
7:59 We questioned whether we should be downstairs, went down, and came back up after still being unsure.
8:09 V refused to bring chompa to interview (despite VJ guidance), she now realizes that is a mistake
8:15 “This place is freaking cold” –V
8:16 “that was just a joke, you don’t have to put that down” –V

I assembled all of the documents months before the interview in Guayaquil, Ecuador. I double checked every requirement. I knew that we had everything that we needed. I went to the interview with my husband just in case they needed to see me (I have heard from others that it was required in the past). I heard the entire interview because my husband was standing mere feet from me behind a curtain. All interviews were held standing up, behind two layers of glass. The man that interviewed my husband said that he was missing a document and a signature. He told him to leave and then come back weeks later once he had everything back together.
I pulled myself together quickly and got up the nerve to go speak to the immigration officer. I asked him what we were missing. He said that I did not have the original signature page for the financial support affidavit. I had included both a faxed copy and the original in the packet after taking extra measures to have that page. He insist... read complete review

There is obviously some difference in consular experiences based on the person doing the interview and the particular circumstances of your case. We had a horrendous experience. I advise everyone to be as prepared as possible and take nothing for granted. This consulate will often contradict itself, and make errors that can delay a case.
We arrived around 8:05 for an 8:30 interview, and subsequently waited outside 2nd in line until at least 9:00 until more space was available inside for immigrant visas. Maybe getting there a little earlier would have been a good idea?? We went up to the upstairs room that was quite chilly. They were calling names, but if you didn't understand when they called your name, an employee came and called you. Up to this point everything was okay. My wife got called to the caja or cashier to submit most of the standard forms like the police record, her DS-156, birth certificate, marriage certificate, sealed medical record, and the evide... read complete review
