Our appointment was scheduled for 8:30am on Monday Jan 24th 2011. We arrived at 8:02am with our documents and jackets (as per recommendation). The man at the gate checked for my fiance's name on the list, once verified he directed us into the Immigration Visas line, which was muuuch shorter than the Non-immigrant Visas line. We waited about 5 minutes to go through the security check. They made Patricio throw out tissue he had in his pocket for his cold. After the security check we went through the door, we had to verify our documents again and then the directed us upstairs to wait. It seemed like they were calling people randomly because some people who came after us got called before us, and some people who were there before we arrived were still waiting when we finally got called at 10:10am. While we were still waiting a guard came upstairs and spoke to us in Spanish about where and when we would get called and how the US citizen couldn't accompany their partner a la ventanilla. He s... read complete review

We arrived at the consulate at 6:45AM, a little later than I would have liked. We were divided into two lines-one for people applying for a tourist visa and another for people applying for residency. We were probably among the last 15 people to get in line. A representative from the consulate, who seemed to have an Italian accent when speaking Spanish, came around and checked to see if everyone had brought their appointment letter and required photos. Unfortunately, we had brought passport style photos when they really needed them to be square 5cm by 5cm, so we had to get out of line and walk across the street so that my wife could get her picture retaken, which cost $10.
After getting back in line, it seemed that they let the people in the tourist line pass through security much faster than the people in the residency line. When it was our turn to pass through security, they made my wife throw away (or get back in line) a small teddy bear that I had given her when we ... read complete review

First and foremost, I would like to thank all Ecuador VJers for their support in preparing for our interview. Our K1 was denied, and we were told he is on a lifetime ban. The stress, money, and waiting has caused the relationship to fall apart (my choice), but our experience with the Consulate in Guayaquil has been unique.
They emailed back within two days the 2 times I emailed them with a complicated question. Our case was complicated with three K3 applications... I later wrote regarding difficulties with the (scam money-sucking) calling for a PIN to set the interview, as I wanted to buy tickets to be there and we were given the run around 4 times on setting the date. They personally called and set up our appt. at our convenience. I called with another question about delaying one of the K3 interviews, and they transferred me up and farther up the ladder until I talked to the Immigrant Visa Supervisor herself, who was very attentive to my call. 1 star for policies but 5 stars f... read complete review

Interview date: Tuesday, October 5th, 2010 at 7:15am
My husband and I arrived at the consulate at 6:15am and there were people waiting in line already. At 7:15 they started to let us in. We went to the little room in the back. A guy came in a made everyone raise the right hand and swear to tell the truth. Around 8:30am they started calling people to windows 3, 4, and 5 (where the Ecuadorians start to take the paperwork and all proof you take) and Window 1 was the American that interview you through the little speaker where everyone is able to hear everything that they ask you. Everything seemed to be going smooth for all the other petitions that were not CR1/IR1/K3/K1. I saw like 3 different people who had kids that they were asked to come back with a DNA test.
Around 10:30am only 5 of us were left, they called my husband to window 4. I went to the window with him and it was an Ecuadorian lady (mid 40's) which gave my husband some paperwork back and starte... read complete review

The day started very early, after a friend informed of me of her Interview Experience. My wife and I got up very early and were at the US Consulate in Guayaquil, Ecuador around 5:00am. We were the first ones in line. We waited until about 7:00am when the consulate workers split everyone in 3 lines, ACS, Immigrant Visa’s and Non Immigrant Visa’s. Around 7:30am they permitted everyone to enter who could fit in the Consulate. The security process was fast and easy. I was then sent with my wife to the small section down stairs in the back. After about 30 minutes the consul came in, gave us some information and made everyone raise their right hands and take the oath, and we swore that we will tell the truth. We waited for about 2 or 3 hours, everyone who was not a CR-1/ IR-1 was processed first. They seemed to do the spousal visa’s last, but this is my own experience. After a long wait my wife was called to Booth 2, I approached with her and was able to appear with her. The lady di... read complete review
