Review Topic: K1 Visa

Arrived at 7:30 for an 8:30 appointment. We were allowed to get in line around 8:00. After a few hours of waiting we were called up and asked for our various items of paperwork and then told to sit down. Next he was called up for fingerprints then we waited a while longer. Finally a third person called us up and asked us a few questions about how we met, how many times I visited him, and what our wedding plans were. Then she told us we were approved and gave us a paper with directions on when and where to pick the visa and passport up. Overall very easy, the worst part was the wait (we finished about 12:30).

Review Topic: K1 Visa

When I first started the K-1 visa process seven months ago, I had no idea exactly what it would entail. I figured that I’m obviously not trying to fraud the system, so I’ll definitely get a visa easily and quickly. WRONG-O. While I have many thanks to give toward the angels at visajourney.com, I never encountered ONE place where I could locate exactly which requirements I needed for everything in the interview, including all the tiniest fine print minutiae. Because it’s the details that can drag you down for months (and what feels like eons). After all this time, you don’t want to screw up the interview, right? So here goes. I hope that someone accidentally stumbles upon this entry when searching for “K-1 Visa Interview Requirements” on Google. I’ve been there, friend. Ohh, have I been there.

Get yourself ready for a looong list of tiny details, based on my experience at the US Consulate in Guayaquil.

ENTREVISTA VISA K1

Review Topic: K1 Visa

We had an appointment at 8:30am and decided to go half an hour earlier as recommended. There is a person outside the embassy checking for the appointment and the letter from the NVC. My fiance and I prepared a folder containing all the docs for the interview but the security guard outside threw away the main folder and left us with almost no paper organization. No reason to fight these security guards- just let them be.

Once inside the consulate, another security guard told us where were we seated. We went upstairs- very difficult to hear what name they were calling as lots of families and children are placed upstairs due to improvised playground. After forty minutes, an official came upstairs to ask us what type of visa we were applying... very informally she told us K1 visas get processed at last. We would have to wait for all other visas to get processed and then we will have three steps for the interview process 1. go downstairs and hand in evidence 2. biometric 3. ... read complete review
