We arrived in Santo Domingo the day before the interview. We checked into the Jardines Del Teatro hotel (you can see the corner of the consulate from there), picked up the medical exam results, had lunch, and enjoyed the cultural and historic attributes of the city. About 4:00 PM, we walked to the consulate to preview our path for the next day. We spoke to one of the consulate staff in the yellow shirts and learned we would be in line number 2. That night we rehearsed for the big event, the interview. We arrived the next day at the consulate at 5:45AM. Lines one, two, and three were full. It did not matter because we were calm and taking in the view, at least I(the petitioner) was calm. Embassy personnel will give applicant's with consular appointment letters a number that will be used during the day to summon applicants to various windows for processing. After getting our number, we finally got inside the building, passing through the metal detectors at 6:45AM. The line moves ... read complete review

Arrived around 545 am to find about 50 people in line. We were moved to the front of the line because we had our 5 month old son with us. Upon entering we moved through security quickly and took a seat. Within 15 minutes of sitting (around 715 am) we were called to window 22 where we gave the agent all of our documents (she did NOT ask us for the affidavit of support). She instructed us to go to the cashier to pay the $210. There was a sign on the cashier's window that stated it would open at 730 am. Around 820 am the cashier finally opened and we paid (he was definitely on Dominican time). After giving the receipt to the agent we waited approximately 10 minutes and were called to the fingerprints window. The longest wait was for the actual interview. When were called to window 24 and were asked 2 questions: when I separated from my first husband and why don't we get married in DR. Shortly there after we were approved. Made out of the consulate by 930 am.

So first off we got APPROVED. I'll make this as short and sweet as the interview was :-)/ We got there around 5:30/45am and got in line. Our appointment was for 7:30am however the gentleman helping us said we could go in the line for the 6:45am appointments. We waited a while and were allowed to enter. Around 7:30am we got called to window 24 to hand in the police certificate, and passports. At this point I started looking for that famous green paper however didn't see it yet. At 8:30am we were called to window 13 to do fingerprints. At this point as my husband was busy talking to the woman in the window I got a glance at the green paper stapled to our file and this gave us both a sign of relief as our hearts were pounding all morning from nerves. Around 9:30am we got called to window 23. We were immediately sworn in and the consulate officer asked if we wanted to do the interview in english/spanish and as my husband knows little english we did it in spanish....the consulate officer a... read complete review

we arrived at the embassy about 06:30 (our appointment was 06:45, the line was wrapped around the side of the building by then. we patiently waited to make it to the front of the line. by the time we made it thru the metal detectors and seated inside it was about 07:30. we were both pretty nervous so we stared at the monitor that displayed the numbers being called. we were number 779....our number was finally called a little after 08:30. we were called to window 19 and there was a nice lady there who collected all the required paper work. She then told us to go and pay the $210 and bring her the receipt. Once we did that, she told us to have a seat and wait for our number to be called again for fingerprinting.

Around 09:25, we were actually called by name to window 13 for fingerprints…which was pretty quick. And we were back to sitting and waiting again. Time seemed to move soooooo slow. And FINALLY (the moment of truth) we were called to window 21 (it was after 10am... read complete review
