So this review is being posted second hand. Jose, my fiance, went to the interview at the embassy by himself. I would have liked to have gone but I really have no vacation time to spare. Also, financially speaking, it seemed to make more sense to put the money I would be spending to go down to CR toward Jose's ticket to the US.

So, Jose's appointment was at 12:00pm. He arrived at 11:30 and waited outside the embassy in the hot sun for half an hour. He was allowed in at 12:00 and overall he said that everything went extremely well. He was super nervous, having been denied twice from tourist visas, but he said that everyone was friendly and the process wasn't so bad.

Jose's experience is very similar to that of kidbrooklyn's fiance. In fact, I am wondering whether the same employee saw the two interview candidates. Jose waited for a while and then was called up to see a Costa Rican who took all his forms and papers. She asked how Jose and I had met... read complete review

My fiancee's interview was Friday, Apr 4th. They say arrive between 12-1:30pm. I flew down April 3rd to be there with her. I didn't need to but I know she gets nervous so I wanted be there for her. She was a nervous wreck, even though I tried to convince her it'll be a piece of cake.

We got there at 12:50. We walked in past security and went directly to the ticketing machine and got a "G" ticket for immigrant visa. Our number was 703. So we went inside and they were calling 701. Nice! So we were called up within about 5 minutes. This is to the pre-screener who takes all your forms and documents (not evidence of relationship-you keep it till the interview). She had a list of all that was required and was checking it off as we were handing her our forms/docs. She was surprised that we had it ALL. She also asked my fiancee to fill out some form with my first and last name. Then she asked us how we met. She was really nice and smiled a lot which relaxed my girl... read complete review

Review Topic: K1 Visa

So, I arrive at the embassy at 12:01pm for my 12:00pm appointment...lost in San Jose for an hour, ending up in the worst imaginable part of town was not the best start to the day! Anyway...

I take a number (an "immigrant" category one, as Costa Rica seems stuck on the idea that a K1 is an immigrant visa...) and have a seat. It's packed with tourist visa seekers - must be 200+ of them! At least the security/crowd control is very organised! I have number 612 and they are processing 602...I settle in for a bit of a wait. But, there's entertainment! All those jokers trying to get visas with no paperwork, overstays on tourist visas, an 18 year old girl who admits to only having known her USC petitioner for a week before they filed! That was the best one - she knew nothing about him, where he worked, family, not even the town where he lives! The consul could barely stop himself from laughing out loud  Anyway, back to me!

My number fin... read complete review

My husband said the interview went very well. Minimal questions and a nice interviewer. Among the questions, he had to swear to be telling the truth and swear that he doesn't intend to do anything bad in the US. Then they said to come back the next day to pick up his passport. And that was that!!
