Good news: Our K1 visa was approved. Bad News: On August the consulate was asking for the form DS250, we that one in advance. Then when he picked up packet #3, DS250 was no longer in use, now they were asking for form DS 160 (online), so we did that one. A few days before the interview, the consulate called my fiancé to let him know that the interview was changed form September 30 to October 1st, but they didn't mention a change of form. So when my fiancé went to the San Jose Embassy, and he was told that the form has changed again during those last 2 weeks. We were lucky that the embassy has a place where you can filled forms and print them. He got to the embassy at 10am (2 hours before his interview) so he could take the pictures right there, he left the embassy at 4pm. He was the last one to leave the Embassy. My fiancé told me that the staff are very friendly. In the interview they asked him: "When and where did you met her?" "do you have kids?" "How you get along with ... read complete review

They wanted an IRS copy of my 2012 tax return. The papers have been submitted and we are waiting for their decision.

Our interview was scheduled for Monday, 7/1/13. I flew in on 6/29 so I could be there for the interview too. We waited along with many other people and we were called up to the window. The woman explained that 2 additional documents needed to be completed and pointed us to a computer in the corner which had a printer. We completed the two forms and handed them in. (The forms had to do with his background, family of origin, places he'd lived, etc etc) We were then instructed to pay the fee at the window ($240) and then we waited some more. We were then called up to the window again and we were asked how we met and what kinds of foods I cook for him. He replied "gallo pinto" and added "she's a good cook". And that was IT for the interview! We were then informed that it was all done EXCEPT for one additional document which was still needed. This document, although already handed in, would verify that he was still single ("solitario"). Since almost a year had elapsed from the original fili... read complete review

Our interview for my husband's visa (green card) was so easy. We were actually pretty nervous but the man that interviewed us was so nice and made us very comfortable. He really only asked us a few questions about how we met and our future plans and that was it. We did need to submit other documents - copies of my parents birth certificates or passports (because they are "sponsoring" my husband on the I-864 form - but it was very easy we just had my parents scan and e-mail them. We will need to return to the embassy to pick up my husband's passport when they finish processing, they said 3-10 days. They man who interviewed us even tried to check with a supervisor or someone to see if there was anything we could do to make it faster because were we live in Costa Rica is very far from San Jose. Of course they couldn't but we appreciated that he tried. The only bad thing about our experience at the embassy was that we had to wait a VERY long time. our appointment was at 12:15 and we didn't... read complete review
