Our experience at the Bogota embassy was very good. My fiance came to Bogota to attend the interview with me. Our interview was scheduled for 7am but we got there 6:15am. They don't let anyone in until 6:45am. We had to stay outside with other people until they called k1 visa applicants to go inside. Because we got there earlier, we got to be one of the first ones to get in. But, since they let people in accordign to the interview time, you'd get in if you cant make it early like we did. Once we got in, there was a first checkin point with some ladies going through the documents and making sure you were in the list for that day. Then we went through an airport security style check point. They went through my purse and did body scan. It is suggested that you don't take any unnecessary items (make up, laptops, etc.) to make the process faster. We only took our folder with our documents and my purse with a pen, my glasses and our passports. Once inside the embassy, a guy reviewed our docu... read complete review

According to my wife, the interview was easy, and was only asked a very small of number of questions:
1) Where does your husband live?
2) 2nd time in the US? What happened the first time with your K1 Visa process? (The first time my wife came to the United States, she came as my fiancee. Things did not work out the first time, and she went back to Colombia)

The interviewer made some small talk, and eventually told her she was approved. She was able to pick up the visa within 2-3 days of approval. So if you live far away and your visa is approved, it may be a safe bet to stay around the area, and perhaps wait for your stamped passport.

Stayed at the Fairfield Marriott across the street the night before. 7am was our time. It’s a 3 minute walk to the embassy from the hotel. You arrive to a very unorganized area outside the embassy gate. Many people trying to sell you items and what not. You need to listen to the speakers that will broadcast across the road from the embassy. They will tell you what times are currently being called. Once you hear your time, simply cross the street and follow the crowd. Don’t arrive early. If you have 7am, 645am is plenty of time as nothing will happen until right at 7am. For our K1 interview, the petitioner is allowed to join inside for the process. No advance notice needed or special letter. Just cross the road and tell the first security guard you are a K1 and the petitioner is with you. Simply show your US passport for ID and you’re in. You will go through airport style security. Then to a document check where you will put everything in a specific order. After this, you go to an... read complete review

MY fiance went to the embassy and had her interview, and is currently on "refused" status. I spent 45 minutes on the phone with the "fraud" department trying to show we have a relationship, and nothing has moved forward. Her interview was on July 22nd, I did the phone interview on August 22nd, and no action has been taken on our case since September 29th. I wasn't able to travel much due to my job being short, I am finally getting to fly down and see her next month after 25 months of not seeing her sue to work. We talk for hours a day, we email each other daily when I am at work, as my job doesn't allow me to have a phone at work. I have finally reached out to my congressman to try and see if they can help. I have been doing all I can to keep her safe. If this was fraud she would be sending me money, not me trying to help her to keep her safe.

I am tired and I don't know what to do next. Hopefully someone will, because when I offered more information they ble... read complete review

I wasn't there when my fiance had her appointment but she says the entire process was easy and very streamlined. She the early appointment and traffic in Bogota was still bad. She stayed in an AirBnb near the embassy just for that reason. The embassy employee was even joking with her during the appointment. She was mainly asked questions about how we met and what she knew about my kids. The interview was 15-20 minutes long and he told her congratulations you'll receive your visa in 10 days. Ana and I met online in October 2021, February 2022 I flew to Ecuador to meet her and we stayed together for a week. After that, she moved back to Venezuela which made it difficult for us to see each other. I have constantly gone to work since I was in the military. I wrote a letter to the embassy explaining my difficulties visiting Venezuela but they never read the letter.
