Review Topic: K1 Visa

Really short wait time and extremely nice staff! I arrived 5 minutes before my appointment time (7:30 am) and was directed inside the embassy right away. A lady in a table organized my documents (she only included my DS160 confirmation, birth certificate, police record, i134 with evidence, passport and passport style pictures, and closed medical envelope) and gave me back everything that she didn’t need, including all the relationship evidence. After going through the security checkpoint I was asked about my visa type and upon informing them that it was a K1 they made me skip the line (which I assume is for all other non-immigrant types) and I went straight to a lady in a table who checked my documents again and instructed me to approach a window where I talked to a lady through a telephone. She asked me my information, opened the medical envelope, and clipped my papers together inside my passport. She told me to go back to the lady in the table who gave me a numbered card and t... read complete review

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

Due to reading others experiences prior to our interview appointment we arrived at 7:00am for our 8:30 appointment. We mentioned that we’re here for an immigrant visa and was ushered straight in. A man sorted our papers. He asked for both of our original birth certificates, our marriage certificate, her police report, my original divorce decree, her passport and four photos. Translated documents were not taken. He put green dots with IV on both of us. Then when inside a woman sorted through our papers again and assigned us to a window. After a short wait we were called to the window where the woman returned my birth certificate and our marriage certificate. She said that it wasn’t necessary. Then we were assigned a number and sent to wait for another window near the coffee shop. We ordered two cups of coffee and waited. After another short wait we went up to the window for our interview. My wife talked to a man. He asked her what I did for work and if I speak Spanish. That... read complete review

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

Our interview was at 9:00 am 5/14 and we arrived at 7:30 am. We went to the entrance and told them we were there for an immigrant visa, and they ushered us directly inside and to a line specifically for immigrant visas. Only a few people in line.

They had tables set up where an employee reviewed the documents that we had. Even though the list of documents told us to bring originals, translations, and photocopies of both, they only asked for:

Original birth certificate of the beneficiary
Original marriage certificate
Original police certificate
Original birth certificate of petitioner (we didn't have it because it wasn't on their list). It wasn't a big deal, but bring it anyway if you have it!
medical sealed envelope

They organized the above papers and sent us into the embassy where we were directed to another table. They reviewed the same documents again, told us to sit down, and they would call us to talk to a l... read complete review

Very smooth experience.

Day 1. Blood tests/X-ray - long lines, but as expected
Day 2. Medical with Dr. Denis - very friendly doc, nice experience overall.
Day 3. Biometrics - long line but smooth experience
Day 4. interview

Arrived an hour early alone (my spouse didn't travel to Colombia for the interview). Was separated into the K1/Immigrant visa line. documents were checked for completeness by a local staff member. Once inside the embassy courtyard, I went initially to the window for the "document submission". I gave in the docs I had (one doc missing from I-864 that the NVC had requested, my birth cert, marriage cert, updated police report, my spouse's US passport copy, and our 2017 tax return (when docs submitted to visa center, the IRS filing deadline had not yet passed, so we submitted the 2016 return) . Once that was all taken care of, was given a number and then sat down. I waited around an hour, and then was called up aga... read complete review
