I went with my Fiance to the consulate for the interview. Everything went smoothly. We lined up outside the building in the early morning about an hour before our interview time. There were about 200 other people and I noticed 2 other Americans. Eventually a couple embassy employees came out and had everyone line up according to interview time. (I'm not actually sure what they were saying) We were one of the first to head up the escalator and I was allowed to pass until we got the 3rd or 4th floor where I had to wait. This floor has a very expensive cafe and several travel agencies. I waited for about 2 hours and chatted with another American who was on his second try. His wife and her daughter came out first with their approval and gave me the good news about my fiancee. About 10 minutes later my fiancee came out with her pink slip. The interview with the consular officer was very brief. The lady looked through our pictures and asked some questions about them and then asked some basic... read complete review

Interview today, 2/4/2010..I guess it\'s true about GUZ...it SUCKS!!! We were prepared, the officer even told my wife all the papers were in order but still given a blue slip!! She was told to \"wait for investigation\" WTF does that mean? Now she is on her way back to Chongqing in tears! No reason given for denial...I cannot believe my country treats its citizen\'s spouses in such a manner! It does appear these \"civil servants\" (great oxymoron!) have already made up their minds before the interview...why bother with them, save us $131 and send the blue slip in the mail!! I will write my congressman and FAX a letter to the GUZ embassy Chief, but from what I have read here, it would be for naught! Any suggestions?
I need to get specifics from my wife as to what happened and how the interview went, she was too upset to give me the details, so I may be overreacting since I just learned the results tonight. More to come I\'m sur... read complete review

Wait in the line since 7AM for the 7:15 appointment, got in around 7:30AM, appointment letter was collected, cleared security checkpoint, electronics are turned off and handed over for storage, entered the hall to be called to (by name and city only, not by number) submit paperwork from P4. At this time, P4, IV fee receipt and all notarized paperwork is collected, passport is examed, took the petitioner's 3-year tax return (tax transcript from IRS was NOT needed), given a number to be called to fingerprinted. After fingerprinting, the same number was called to see the VO. Hand in the passport, while VO is carefully checking the passport, take over the materials and stack them in the order of "IRS tax transcipt, work certification on top, business card", "pictures", "MSN Screenshot and phone record" (you can probably seperate the materials in three stacks, but this greatly increase the speed of responding to VO's request. Q1: Who petitioned for you? (my name)Q2: When did you first know ... read complete review

I am writing this review to give my experiences with the U.S. Consulate General Guangzhou, China. My wife and I requested the electronic filig system and it was quick and easy. The only problems I encountered was waiting for Guangzhou to send me the packets when in fact after paying the fees and printing a receipt you also received instructions for the next step.
She received her interview date and time for the 19th of January 2010 at 0730. We arrived at 0700 and found a couple hundred or so other people waiting. The lined everybody up by their appointment time. I though this would be smooth but it was not as they intergrated others with the approved appointments. My wife did not get upstairs until 0900. Than after turning in the requested paperwork and getting finger printed it was not till 1130 she was called to window 22. She told me that it was ayoung man with a big smile on his face and that put her at ease. He asked her three questions; when and where did we meet, ... read complete review

Everything was fine with one exception, the whole experience being very similar to that of another member's fiancee. The visa officer liked my fiancee's organization of my financial documentation so that she didn't have to ask for each part, and the fact that not only had I visited China three times, but that she and her son visited Toronto and my mother flew in to meet them as well. The final question on CCP membership led to the visa officer's disappointed expression and the blue slip for more information and an exemption.
The whole experience was very professional; the last question confirms the same one in the pre-interview registration. If your fiance(e) is honest, there isn't a lot one can do about it. Under federal law it's still illegal to give a de facto immigrant visa (as K1 and K3 are treated by the consulates)to someone with membership in an organization that wants to overthrow the U.S. government. It doesn't matter if nations run by that Party have most M... read complete review
