We pretty much front-loaded them with all evidence and documents with our original P1 package. We visited each other more than 8 times for the past two years before filing CR1 so photos were abundant. We are interracial couple but I do speak fluent English. Interview went fast and smoothly. Only four questions asked:
1. Husband's hometown;
2. Husband's job title;
3. Where we planned to live in usa in future.

Be prepared and you'll be fine. In our case my wife is pregnant with my child for 5 month and it becomes much easier. They won't give you a hard time unless you have something to hide.

This review is for a DCF CR-1 Visa.
The interview process was smooth. Arrived at 8:45am for a 9:20am interview on April 23, 2015. They let my wife past the first gate at about 9am. The line past the first gate is a bit disorganized, with everyone eager to get in. The staff in charge of that first line (before the security check) seemed a bit novice. My wife said they told 9:20am appointments to line up at a certain place, then later told them to go back to the line, only later to say they could go in...
Once inside the consulate, it was more organized with number systems. Just wait for your number to be called. The first step is document intake where they collect the I-864 form(s), police certificate, birth certificate, marriage certificates, etc.
The second step was to pay the $325 fee on the second floor. The person who took my wife's documents reminded her to pay this fee, but my wife said they didn't remind all applicants.
