The interview was relatively quick and easy. Her appointment was at 0750 and she arrived about 10 minutes early. Because of the appointent time, she was able to skip the line and go straight to the window to submit our support documents. She was called for the interview probably around 40-45 minutes later. There were only a few questions (whole thing lasted less than 5 minutes):
1. When / where did you meet your fiance?
2. What is your fiance's job?
3. When is the last time you saw each other?
4. Do you have any pictures?
5. Why do you love him?
6. Are you a member of the communist party?

Interview went by extremely well. She was only asked a few questions such as:
1. When was the last time you met your fiance'?
2. Does he speak Chinese?
After that he asked to see some photos.
Finished looking and then said she was approved!
Visa process went much quicker than I thought, only 6 months with no problems along the way. Shameless plug, but Ashik Jahan, our lawyer who helped us throughout the process was extremely helpful in providing all of the resources needed to make sure it was a smooth process.

Our IR-1 interview was schedule for Guangzhou and it went smoothly for my wife. We are super glad that the visa has finally approved!
Here are a few things that she observed.
Preparation:
We arrived a day early and stayed at a hotel that is 5-10 minute walking distance to the consulate.
The day before the interview, I recommend walking to the consulate and familiarize yourself with the entrance and exit.
Interview Day — Entering:
- Wife's interview is scheduled at 8:10am and we arrived around 7:40am. The guard at the gate asked for the interview letter and let her in to queue up at the outside courtyard.
- There were two queueing lines at the courtyard (immigration visas and visitor visas), watch for the signs to queue up.
- The staff checked the interview letter and passport and directed her to enter the building for security check.
- My wife forgot to remove her Fitbit before going in, bu... read complete review

Fiancee had her interview in Guangzhou today. We're happy to announce that she passed, and that she had a good experience.
Going into it she was really nervous because she'd previously had several bad experiences at the same consulate (applied four times for a tourist visa and was rejected outright 3 times, and had the visa granted 1 time only to have it rescinded days later).
She was very nervous that her previous visa record would affect her this time, but it didn't.
My fiancee conducted her interview in Chinese. Her CO was an older white gentleman who apparently didn't speak much Chinese, but he had two Chinese assistants on hand to help him translate. She described the CO as a friendly man who apparently had read our previously submitted materials quite thoroughly.
She was surprised by how few questions she was asked. We spent months practicing for this interview, practicing about 60 different possible questions, and in the end they aske... read complete review
