Well we did it!
My visa was approved on April 19th in Montreal. I thought I would share my experience.
The consulate itself is located on the corner of Rue St-Alexandre and Blvd. Rene Levesque. The actual entrance is on Rue St-Alexandre (for the consular office only). I have attached photos at the bottom of this post to help so you can recognize the building and know exactly where to go =).
If you chose to stay at the Hotel La-Tour (I would highly recommend staying here - at least for the first night), you only have to walk outside the front door and across the street to reach the consulate. Cab rides from the airport to the city centre are capped at $35 minus tip (Hotel La-Tour is located in the city centre). Also - two blocks up the street (Blvd. Rene Levesque) is a Tim Hortens, so you can easily get a decent cup of coffee and a bagel before the interview.
The Consulate has its own entrance to the building, directly i... read complete review

I flew into Montreal April 4, Bruce drove from Maine and picked me up at the Airport. We went by the directions given on the La Tour Centreville Hotel and were lost for almost 3 hours. Beware...It says to take the 2-20..........it should read 720!!! The Hotel was fine.....but we almost lost the top of the truck because it was underground parking and the hotel clerk said our truck would fit fine.....He misunderstood the make of it. Bruce got out and surveyed the situation and said there was no way the truck would fit under there.. (if I had been driving I would have just driven on through:-)
The next morning we were at the Consulate by 7:45 am (my appointment was at 9:30)...........went through security without a hitch. Went to the 19th floor (thanks, I was prepared for the elevator opening from the back..lol) We stood in line, got number C3, got called in, Bruce went and paid the $100 while I gave the lady all the necessary paperwork. We sat down and got called in for the actual... read complete review

Arrived there at 7:30 am. doors had just opened. grumpy lady in security was there, but all was good. went up at about 8 am. said to wait until 8:30 for window 14 to open, however it was opened at 8:10. got my number. waited for about a half hour until my number was called (I was the 5th person in line for a family related visa). I had lost my passport pictures and was in a panic but the nice lady told me not to worry that she would fix me up. Told me to go see Tony on Rue Ste. Catherine. It was a 5 minute walk from the consulate. I got there and Tony took my pics and I got back a half hour later and gave it back to the lady. 10 minutes later I was called for the interview. The nice man behind the glass asked me how we met. That is it!!

Interview was rather painless. Arrived 1 hour early (08:30 for my 09:30), and was processed immediatly.
Went very quickly.
- Security downstairs - just like the airport
- Elevator up to the 19th floor
- Get a number
- Get called to a window - show them your appointment letter -
- Go to the cashier window, pay $100.00 US cash
- Go right back to the previous window
- Submit original birth cert and copy, original divorce cert and copy, original police record no copy, medical without the x-ray (no one wants the x-ray BTW), signed letter of intent, affidavit of support, DS-156 and suppliment, passport ... i think thats it
- Go sit down and wait a few minutes for your number
- Go to the interview. was asked - where and how did we meet, when did we get engaged, why the states and not canada. (I answered the fabulous San Diego climate)
- She said everything seemed to be in order and handed me a slip to allow me to com... read complete review
