I flew into Montreal on Thursday afternoon and checked into the Hyatt Regency Hotel which is right around the corner from the Consulate. The hotel was nice and comfortable and well worth the extra few dollars I spent. After reading about the hotel fire started by drunken University kids at a cheaper Hotel, I wasn't about to take a chance in dealing with a similar situation.
I work up at 6:20am on Friday and got ready to my interview. I was out the door by 7:00am to make my way to the Consulate. Thank god, it was a much warmer day (-9) than the day before (-25) so I was comfortable waiting outside. I was the first in line and about 5 minutes later, I was joined by a family of four who where immigrating to the US.
I guess they did not read the instruction package since they had big bags and cell phones with them, so one of them had to leave to take everything back to the hotel but he made it back in time.
At 7:30, the doors opened up and I was give... read complete review

I had my interview scheduled for 1:00pm on November the 19th in
Vancouver. I arrived at the consulate about 25 minutes early from my
hotel and there was no line outside. I opened the door and handed my appointment letter to the security guard. They immediately asked me to remove any metal and empty my pockets. The security guard was very courteous and nice. After I passed through the metal detector I headed up the stairs and
through a door, where another security guard let me in the elevator
and scanned a card to let me go to the 20th floor. When I got off at
the 20th floor there was another security check point like the first,
and I again gave them my appointment letter and they searched my
things and I proceeded through another metal detector. All of the
security guards were very nice and made things quite easy. They then let me
into a waiting room where I sat for about 15 minutes until I was

Wooohooooo!
Interview date was set for my birthday, November 13th. We showed up at the Vancouver Consulate at 12:45 for my 1:00 appointment. There was no line-up and only one other person was there for an interview and his was a last minute appointment otherwise I would have been the only person there. The guards were very nice but did their job which was to check coats, purses etc. and make sure we had no electronic devices. It was pretty much like going through security checks at the airport except we did not have to remove our shoes. We went through 2 security checks.
We waited until approx. 1:15 and then I was called to the window B first. A man took my documents as requested on the checklist. I signed the DS-156 in front of him. I did not need the copy of the picture page of my passport. He did of course, take my passport and the copies of my birth and marriage certificates, after checking the originals. He then told... read complete review

Hey y'all,
Here's my MTL experience and review(sorry if it's kinda long)....
My journey started in Toronto Tuesday night. I had a friend come with me and we got on the Coach Canada bus at 9pm headed for Montreal. We stopped in Kingston at midnight for 30 minutes. We arrived in Montreal at 3:45am. It was cold and kinda spooky at that time of the morning. I didn't know north from south, even though I had a map. A taxi driver stopped and asked me where I was going. He spoke very good english, so I said I needed to go to the US Consualte. The taxi only cost $7, but I gave him $10 for being so helpful.
The Consulate is on a side street, that looks like a semi dark alley and you need to look up to see the street number on the building, along with the Consulate emblem. There is no American flag. At 4am I decided we needed to find a coffee shop to stay warm and figure out what we were going to do until it was time to line up. We did not sleep at all... read complete review
