The Montreal Consulate experience was a great one for me.
As I was very nervous, the staff put me well at ease. The blond haired lady I dealt with at the counter spoke to me very politely and was a very friendly individual. She was patient while I looked through my paperwork for the correct items she needed and nicely explained what she needed for me to do next.
When it came to my interview, the gentleman was extremely friendly, making my interview the complete opposite I was expecting (a complete interrogation). He made both me and my fiance at complete ease and was a pleasure to talk to.
Obviously my Visa got approved - or else I wouldn't be singing Montreal's US Consulate's praises!

 I'm extremely happy to announce that I was approved, :dance:YAY !
So this is how it all went down..
Our flight arrived in Montreal from Vancouver at 4:30pm. We rented a car from Thrifty a little yaris nothing special since we were only planning to stay for 2 days. My husband is so cute, us Canadians KNOW that everything in Quebec is going to be in French, but he seemed so overwhelmed that nothing was in English.. He had a lot of fun trying to pronounce the words, but everything ended up having a Spanish accent. I swear he kept saying Je m'appelle over and over again, and Sortie, the entire plane ride since it's posted in the plane at all the exits (guess that's what started the whole thing  ).
Anyhow, so we checked into our hotel (La tour centre ville), which was perfect because we weren't picky, and it was very conveniently located directly across the street from the US Embassy. Oh, and there's no parking on the street, so we had to pay the $... read complete review

So I suggested to my Husband that he write the review, since he was actually there! The only thing I wanted to add was we knew that his passport needed to be valid for 6 months at the time of his interview - when we looked at the expiry date back last year, July 2008 seemed more than sufficient - yeah.
When we were going over all the papers on Saturday or Sunday, we realized that it was only valid for 5 more months - but what are you going to do on the Sunday before the Tuesday interview? Also, we threw in the 2004, 2005 tax returns at the same time, figuring it couldn't hurt to have them, wasn't originally going to include them. It's a good thing we did - while our I-864 is sufficient in terms of assets, I believe they wanted to see the additional 2 years of tax returns just to say hey, the U.S. citizen can in fact do work that will create income (since I'm not working).
Anyway, here is his review, enjoy!

Arrived at the door of the U.S Consulate at 710am. No one was there yet. We huddled in the corner of the doorway since it was snowing quite heavy. Around 730ish, they opened the doors and before letting us through, asked to see our appt letter and to have our passports ready for inspection. Showed him the letter and we proceeded to security where we were asked to remove all items from our pockets, coats, jackets, etc that would go through the x ray machine. I was then given a plastic chip with the letter A and window 9 on it. 'Don't lose it' said the security guy. One by one we went through the metal detector and we both got the standard wand-check. They did take away a little compact dental floss that my Fiance had as well as my garage fob for my condo.
'Go through those doors and head downstairs to the waiting room. In about 10 minutes someone will come down and take you upstairs' said the security guy after we retrieved all our belongings. Down the flight of stairs, ... read complete review
