This interview was such a pleasant experience! We were all worried for nothing.
Arrived there at 7:15am. Were second in line. Guard let us in at 7:30am. We went through security and were given a card with letter "A" on it. We then went downstairs to a waiting room. At 7:45am a guard came down the elevator and called up "everyone who has cards A,B,C and D, come with me." We took the elevator up to the embassy floor.
At the embassy we were told to go into the main waiting room (which has a spectacular view of Montreal!) and wait for our names to be called. We were the first to be called up. Went to window 9 where a nice man took all our papers and asked us some questions while we did this. We then went to another window to pay, and then we had a seat. 15 mins later I was called up to do finger prints at the same window 9. After a few tries, the machine finally read my prints and the man joked with me that "If you're a Chef, you should wash your hands more of... read complete review

We arrived 30 minutes early for our interview and had no problems at Security. This is of course because we didn't bring any cell phones or other prohibited items. We had my 5 year old son with us, which they had no problem with, but I would recommend bringing paper and crayons or a pen for children to have something to do as it is a very sterile environment.
A few other couples arrived after us for thier interviews and the consulate went in order of who was there first (Which was really nice). They were very friendly even when we were missing one form (They gave us a blank one for us to fill out right there). Overall they were very easy to deal with and very friendly.

The interview went very well. My fiance was with me and they also asked him a few questions. She started by asking me to tell her about our relationship and it went on from there. It was very easy!

My husband and I attended his CR1 visa interview in Montreal on September 8, 2008. The folks at the consulate were clear, to the point, and generally easy to deal with. It's an intimidating process, so naturally we were nervous, but everything went off without a hitch.
A couple of points of preparation, even though it's all been said before elsewhere on VJ: don't bring a big bag -- they won't allow it inside. Cell phones and any other electronics will have to be left at the security desk. They don't allow food or drink from outside. However, there are water fountains and vending machines in the waiting room, so bring some change if you think you might get thirsty or hungry. Be prepared to spend a lot of time waiting (I recommend bringing something to read because the reading material in the waiting room will put you right to sleep: the books on American Literation and History look like they were published in the 1970s).
We stayed at Le Dauphin, which was... read complete review

Our interview went really well. We were in the building for probably less then an hour. We were asked a few simple questions and all the people related with interviewing us were courteous and friendly. We were accepted and told to return the next day to pick up the visa. Picking it up took less then ten minutes and we were on our way to the USA!
