Hi guys!
so finally I have my visa in my pocket!
at was at 6h in front of the door and at 7h30 they open the door ( at least 30 people after me was waiting in line....be there early!)
Everybody knows how it work when you show up to the window, the check up your paper and do you finger print. Everyting was ok with my paper but I did a form by hand, they ask me to do it on the computer (in the waiting room.
the two people in front of me at the interview stay in the room for not even 5 minutes. My turn come, and I stay 10 minutes more....
Bring a lot of letter and picture schowing that you know good your fiancé. I only know my fiancé for 1 year and a half and the lady has difficulty to beleive that was my fiancé. I brouth picture, but because they didn't have a date in the back, she didn't beleive me. after to try to convence her, she let me in.
Welcome to united states!
good luck guys!

It's about time I updated my time line.
My interview itself was great, the person interviewing me was very personable.
The process was long, as I traveled from the island to the mainland and had to time ferries and taxis etc.
I only had a few setbacks and I just dealt with them as best I could.
The first one was my shoes, I had traveled over in dress clothes wearing runners for comfort and planning on changing to shoes when I got there, BUT you cannot bring shoes into the building, so I casually opted to ditch the shoes, they were killing my feet and when I got to the interview I realized that no one was dressed for business anyway.
The second one was timing, the Vancouver Consulate closed for the Olympics and set us back a few weeks because we were missing an "original" document. The document was the divorce papers of Micheal's first wife. I tried to talk my way around it explaining that he did get married a second time and that I am sure he was di... read complete review

My appointment was at 13:00 and I arrived about 15 minutes early and was cleared through security with ease as I had followed the instructions about what not to bring in the interview confirmation letter. I only had my binder and folders with me which they searched through and then I was on my way up to the Nonimmigrant visa floor. There were only 3 other k-1 interviews that day and I was directed to a waiting room to wait until my name was called. I was the first of three so I shared my experiences with the 2 other k-1ers after each of the procedures.
The Process:
1. Window 2:Document check: If you have everything in the packet 3 checklist, this goes relatively easily. The only thing that caught me off guard was that they asked me for a COPY of my birth certificate even though this is NOT listed on the checklist. This was not a problem in the end, as the officer just said, that’s fine. I’ll just make a copy. (done!) After all my documents were collec... read complete review

We arrived at the Montreal consulate at 6:30 a.m. We parked in the Safeway parking lot on the right hand side of the street just before the consulate and it cost $15 for the day. There was one couple with a little boy ahead of us. No one else arrived until 7 a.m. First a mom with 2 kids and then another married couple (I am assuming CR-1 since he said he was from Texas and she was from Toronto with a Philipino passport). The doors opened at 7:35 a.m. There was a glass company there to replace the doors actually so I think that is why security opened the doors so early. We got letter B as we went through security. Rom had some metal something that they needed to "wand" him for. We actually went down the stairs first to the waiting area for the elevator. The "A" couple came, then the married couple, and then another couple I didn't see outside when they let us in at 7:35 a.m. The security guard gave us a brown laminated sheet with instructions about what would happen today. We waited unt... read complete review

For such a draining process, everything couldn't have gone smoother or with less fanfare. I'll do a small review of the hotel/consulate/medical as well as some overall Montreal thoughts.
Hotel: We stayed at Le Square Phillips. We were going to be here a week...with medical on Monday and interview on Friday so I wanted a place central to both the medical and consulate as well as with a kitchen to save on food expenses. The hotel is pretty nice. Has a pool. Located 2 minutes from the consulate and 8 minutes from Medisys. Staff was nice. Free parking in their garage. A little on the more expensive side but well worth it. Only issue came today, when apparently the Olympic Athlete parade is going on down St. Catherine street and ending...yep...in Phillips Square...so I am a tad worried about road closures since we have to get to the airport by 4. If it's an issue there's a shuttle and a bus right down the street so no biggie.
