Interview date and time: January 6, 2021, 7:30 am
The consulate opened at exactly 7:30am. The security at the door asked me if I followed COVID related restrictions in Montreal. After that I was let in and gave my passport to the lady checking the appointment date and time. She put a sticker on the back of my passport and gave it back to me with my ticket number.
I went through an airport like security. I was asked to put my phone and galaxy buds in the tiny locker. I had my documents and small bag with me. (Please do not bring any large bags or even laptop bags. They won't allow any of those inside. The locker you put your electronics in is tiny.)
I went up to the second floor and waited for about 10 minutes before my number was called. I went to Window 6 and was asked to give the following documents:
- Passport and photocopy of the biographical page
- Birth Certificate (Applicant) original and photocopy
- Photocopy of ... read complete review

We waited for an hour in the snow before being allowed in the building. 2 hours of document interrogation later, we were approved.

Interviewed this morning & approved!
The whole process took about 1.5 hours
Appointment @ 9:45, arrived at 9:35
Lots of people in line outside, a group of people ahead brought backpacks and large bags *do not bring backpacks/large bags* - the security guard was not very happy about this and will not watch your things
I got called to enter the building close to 1000, went through the metal detector, only had to lock up my phone - I was able to bring a binder, reading book, wallet and passport holder
I was told to go up to first floor, and check in @ counter 6
She asked for my passport & 2 passport photos
I went back to sit & wait
Called up at 1015 to give my birth certificate, marriage certificate, police certificate, husband and joint sponsor’s 2020 taxes
- I was asked: is your spouse the sponsor? if this was the first time I’ve applied... read complete review

Interview experience:
My appointment was at 9:30am. I arrived at the consulate at 9:15 and saw a REALLY long queue of people already gathered there. When I joined the queue they were still calling people with 8:30 appointments, so I knew we had a long wait ahead. There is no shelter for the queue outside, so come prepared for the weather. It happened to be snowing that day and -10 degrees, but I guess that's still better than rain. They let people in one by one, as people from inside left, in the order of their interview slot AND their spot in the queue. I ended up being called in at 11:15.
Once inside, they ask for your ID (I showed my passport), and ask if you are in compliance of all the COVID protocols of the province of Quebec. Then you go through an airport like security. I was carrying a tote bag/ reusable shopping bag with my documents in binders, my inhaler, phone wallet, a cardigan and a sanitary pad. I was wear... read complete review

I had my interview on Dec 10th at 8:30 AM
I showed up to the consulate 10 minutes early and stood outside, I was waved in to the lobby almost immediately by a Security officer. He asked me what time my appointment was for, if I have been complying with all covid protocols and to show a piece of photo ID. I showed him my drivers license and he said that my name was on the list and let me into the building. (8:20 am)
The only things I brought with me were a winter jacket and my folder containing all of my documents. I left my phone and all other belongings with my husband, he stayed at the second cup across from the consulate during the duration of the interview. Our check out time for our airbnb was for 12:00 pm and we weren’t sure how long the interview would take. We took all of our luggage with us because we had flights later that day. If you are flying the same day I would definitely recommend either having someone to stay with your luggage or ma... read complete review
