My husband and I had some difficulty locating the consulate at first. The door is on the a side street and quite inconspicuous. We finally arrived at 7:15am with only one woman waiting ahead of us. At 7:30, a guard unlocked the door. The woman ahead of us was denied entry because she had a large bag of documents. Advice: Don't bring a bag, hand carry everything! Passing through security, we hung a left and went down the stairs into a waiting room. As we waited, people slowly started to pour in.
At 8:00, myself and the woman who had been ahead of me (who had ditched her bag somewhere) were led into an elevator. We were welcomed by the receptionist and asked to get in line to pick our number. I got my number (C2) and sat down in the middle of the room (the immigrant visa section). To the left of me many people were being seated (the work visa section). There was only myself and the woman ahead of me for the Spousal Visa. At 8:15 the lady ahead of me was called. After she ... read complete review

Well, it's done and approved!!!
Today I had my CR1 interview in Montreal.
I showed up at the consulate at around 7:10 and there were already about 5 ppl in front of me. At 7:30 they opened the doors to start security (note: bring as little as possible, no fluids, phones etc), after security, we were sent downstairs into a waiting room. There is a photo booth in case you forgot to bring yours (also, they ask for a 2x2 picture, but a standard size passport picture is fine also). After about 15min of waiting in that room with about 30 others, a security guard came and asked for people applying for immigration visas to follow him into the elevator. The elevator went upstairs to a main room. Once there, we were asked to stand in a line and they would give us a number, and we would sit down in the middle of the room and wait for our number to be called. The first time I was called (10 min from sitting down), it was for finger prints and giving them my pictur... read complete review

Let me start by thanking everyone who had posted their reviews and suggestions for others to follow. Thank you visa journey for helping us through this long journey.
Here is my review:
Flew from Vancouver to Montreal the day before and went to find exactly where the consulate was. We stayed at Days Inn, which is about 5 blocks away from the consulate.
We arrived at the consulate at 6.30 am and were first in line. A girl for K1 came along with her mother. But about at 7 people started to come in and the line got longer and longer. At 7.30 the guards opened the door and asked for confirmation letter and passport for everyone. After going through the security (like at airport) we went down the stairs and sat in the chairs left of the elevator. We were in the room for about 25 minutes after which a guard came by and took us all up who were applying for the immigrant visas.
Once up in the main room on 19th floor, we formed... read complete review

The interview piece was a “breeze” thanks to the advice of VJ members!
Let me start by saying our interview was on the Monday following what was supposed to be a Category 2 hurricane on Sunday in NYC. So I left a day earlier and met Toby in Montreal on Saturday. We stayed at the Hyatt, which was a couple blocks from the Embassy. On Monday, we arrived at the Embassy around 6:30am (just because I’m crazy like that! lol), after grabbing a cup of coffee around the corner .. and were the very first in line! People started to arrive around 7, and the line just got longer and longer. At 7:30 exactly, they opened the doors and we went in. As the sponsor, they also let me in with no problem. Toby’s name was not on the list for scheduled interviews that day (a VERY scary moment but I heard this happens regularly so I stayed calm) but they let us through anyways. We went downstairs and sat right next to the elevators .. (spent some time chatting... read complete review
