The US Embassy in Phnom Penh had a pretty good setup. They only allow 3 people in the building at a time to avoid overcrowding the waiting/interview area which is pretty small.
Once our number was given and visa fee paid (131 USD), my fiancee was called to the interview window within 15 minutes and the interview itself took about 15 minutes. Interview questions were short and straight forward - no surprises.
The interviewer was a Caucasian lady who could speak Khmer. She interviewed my finacee in Khmer and me in English.
In summary, the interview process was as smoothly as we had expected. We wanted that blue slip so badly and we got it.

I hope that the embassy makes the process as smooth as possible.
